The goal of the DPGA and its registry is to promote digital public goods in order to create a more equitable world. Being recognized as a DPG increases the visibility, support for, and prominence of open projects that have the potential to tackle global challenges. To become a digital public good, all projects are required to meet the DPG Standard to ensure that projects truly encapsulate open source principles. 💡“Buy what you need, Own what you buy, Share what you own.” (Cable Green, PhD Creative Commons) This idea caught the attention of the Digital Public Goods Alliance Annual Members Meeting in Singapore 🇸🇬 last week. It’s a very powerful synthesising phrase that relates directly to #TheTechWeWant vision that we’ve been developing at the Open Knowledge Foundation. If put into practice, it could contribute to our collective efforts to organise an alternative stack of technologies that are more useful, simpler, more durable and focused on solving people’s real problems. Our Tech Lead Patricio Del Boca had a pretty busy week, participating in several panels and workshops. In this blog, find out his impressions and what to expect from the #DigitalPublicGoods world next year. "I am happy to see the spirit of the #Commons on the main stage and at the centre of the conversations" 👉🏾 https://lnkd.in/dAVg5-ru
