We are excited to announce that as core maintainers of DKAN, DKAN is now an authorized Digital Public Good and has been added to the Digital Public Goods Alliance (DPGA) DPG Registry! The goal of the DPGA and its registry is to promote digital public goods in order to create a more equitable world. Being recognized as a DPG increases the visibility, support for, and prominence of open projects that have the potential to tackle global challenges. To become a digital public good, all projects are required to meet the DPG Standard to ensure that projects truly encapsulate open source principles. DKAN is a powerful, community-driven open data platform. As a Drupal module, DKAN leverages Drupal's robust features to create modern, standards-focused, and API-first open data catalogs for the public good, including our clients Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and Oak Ridge National Laboratory. For us, being recognized as a digital public good—defined as open source software, open data, open AI models, open standards, and open content that adhere to privacy and other applicable laws and best practices, do no harm, and help attain the SDGs—means contributing to a more equitable and open digital future. The Digital Public Goods Alliance is a multi-stakeholder initiative endorsed by the United Nations Secretary-General, working to accelerate the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals. I am looking forward to Drupal GovCon 2024 in August, where I will speak alongside Daniel Feder as we showcase how we have built modern, standards-focused, and API-first open data catalogs for a variety of specific use cases using Drupal and DKAN. https://lnkd.in/gzR9hDpt In this session, we will demonstrate how we have used Drupal’s features as a foundation for storing and presenting data and metadata and how we have built alternatives to several Drupal paradigms to better integrate with open standards and wider data ecosystems. We will also look a bit toward the future and explain how DKAN is preparing to meet the needs of new, more powerful metadata standards (such as DCAT-US v3) and new types of data consumers (such as Large Language Models). We will cover: - A brief overview of DKAN and how it is used in government - Demo of standing up a data catalog from scratch and customizing its schema, with a look at what’s happening behind the scenes - How we develop DKAN collaboratively and in the open - Our current roadmap
