Leading the way to full equity, inclusion, and access
About us
Easterseals is leading the way to full equity, inclusion, and access through life-changing disability and community services. For more than 100 years, we have worked tirelessly with our partners to enhance quality of life and expand local access to healthcare, education, and employment opportunities. And we won’t rest until every one of us is valued, respected, and accepted. Through our national network of affiliates, Easterseals provides essential services and on-the-ground supports to more than 1.5 million people each year — from early childhood programs for the critical first five years, to autism services, to medical rehabilitation and employment programs, to veterans’ services, and more. Our public education, policy, and advocacy initiatives positively shape perceptions and address the urgent and evolving needs of the one in four Americans living with disabilities today. Together, we’re empowering people with disabilities, families and communities to be full and equal participants in society.

Too often, the needs of homebound seniors go unnoticed, despite the critical challenges they face in accessing care. At Easterseals, we are committed to addressing these barriers through programs that provide in-home support, assistive technologies, and community-based solutions. This work ensures all older adults can live with dignity and independence. The recent article in The Washington Post highlights the urgency of this issue. As we continue to advocate for policies and services that meet the needs of our aging population, we remain steadfast in our mission to serve as a resource for families and communities nationwide. https://lnkd.in/gPrUK39p

Our recent Disabled Veterans Study found that only 28% of disabled veterans experiencing mental health challenges report an easy transition to civilian employment. This number highlights a critical gap in support for those who have served our country. That’s why Easterseals is proud to introduce our new mental health screening tool, designed to provide veterans with the resources they need to navigate this transition. This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting veterans' well-being and ensuring they receive the comprehensive care they deserve. Our commitment to veterans extends beyond just one day—it’s a year-round mission. We are so glad to highlight the incredible work of our Affiliate, Easterseals Veterans Rally Point. This center provides essential resources, including mental health services, a makerspace craft studio, and housing support for homeless veterans. Thanks to a recent $464,000 federal grant, the Rally Point can expand its mental health services to address urgent needs like veteran suicide prevention. We're committed to ensuring all veterans receive the support they deserve. https://lnkd.in/g_hPE9aF

We are thrilled to share that the Senator Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Veterans Healthcare and Benefits Improvement Act has passed the U.S. House of Representatives, a critical step toward ensuring veterans, caregivers, and their families receive the support they deserve. At Easterseals, we are committed to ensuring that our veterans are supported with the healthcare, benefits, and services they need to live full lives. This bill would bring transformative changes to the care and resources available to veterans and their families nationwide. We thank Senator Elizabeth Dole, Chairman Mike Bost, Ranking Member Mark Takano, and all partners for their tireless efforts to bring this bill to life. However, our work is not finished. We now need the Senate to act swiftly and pass this bill before the end of this Congress. Please join us in encouraging your Senators to support this vital legislation. Together, we can make sure that veterans and their families get the care and support they have earned. https://lnkd.in/eaUVmta #Veterans #VeteranCare #Easterseals #SupportOurTroops #VeteransBenefits
