Today I'm feeling grateful for EcoEnclose #EcoAllies - from brands just beginning their journey towards more eco-friendly packaging to those we've been working with for years and who have sustained long-term commitments to #circularity and #innovation. Despite continued uncertainty and unexpected hurdles for ecommerce in 2024, this group has stayed committed to positive progress. As a community, their investment in recycled versus virgin packaging has saved: ✅ 11,080 tons of CO2 equivalent ✅ 1,199 acres of forestland left undisturbed ✅ Protected 11 threatened species in North America It's been an incredible year for our EcoAlly community - and it isn't over yet! A note on methodology and sources: We calculate the total weight of recycled paper (based on paper type) and recycled LDPE that our EcoAlly community has purchased in 2024 so far, and measure the savings impact using the Environmental Paper Network's Paper Calculator 4.0 (for paper) and the LCA software GaBi Envision by Sphera (for plastic). We're excited to begin rolling out the newest version of our most popular stock paper based shipping solutions - now, featuring an FSC® Certification label printed directly onto each. Given our brand commitment to using 100% recycled content in our products, why does the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) Certification matter? While 3rd party certifications like FSC® are designed to verify the use of responsible materials in products across the supply chain - from extraction to finished product - certification claims have never been more abundant, or more rife with fraud. Many paper and packaging companies make FSC® claims of their products and inputs, without holding a valid certificate themselves. This creates confusion, misinformation, and ultimately- takes advantage of brands and individuals' authentic want to use their purchasing power for good: particularly, for the protection of our forests. By printing our FSC® label onto our products, we accomplish two important things for consumers: 1. Third-party verifying the recycled content that has always made our products the most responsible option on the market, AND 2. Giving consumers the tools they need to fact-check us, and confirm our claims. Those numbers on the bottom of the label? That's our certification code. You can use the directory online at www.search.fsc.org to search by certification codes - verify the claims made, and the producer who holds the certification. When you search for our name, or our number, you'll see exactly what materials and certification we hold. Expect to see more products with this top-level verification rolling out over the next 6 months! shout out to Sarah Quirk for managing all of our #certifications! #sustainablepackaging #circularity #thirdpartyverifications #sustainability

We've been getting lots of questions about the Sway Polybag! (1) is it strong? Yes! From our own hands-on testing, we've seen that these bag have high tensile strength and resist puncturing. (2) how does the material feel? Most people who experience Sway bags say it has a soft, almost velvety feel to it. (3) Is it transparent? The bags are translucent. You can clearly see and scan what is in the bag. But the best way to answer these questions and more is to get a bag for yourself! Learn more and request a free sample here: https://lnkd.in/gWPNt5aW 🌿🌊 Developed by the incredible Sway team, these bags feature seaweed as their hero ingredient, helping divert reliance on petroleum and supporting healthy ecosystems and communities. #sustainablepackaging #seaweed #seaweedpackaging #circularpackaging #regenerative #regenerativepackaging

Last week, I led a roundtable discussion: Does Sustainability Actually Matter in Business? It turned out to be a great conversation with a few key points: 👉 Regardless of whether sustainability makes a business more successful - sustainability MATTERS. But people who care deeply about addressing environmental challenges struggle with the tension between (1) knowing that making eco-conscious decisions is critical for the planet while (2) recognizing the need to assess and justify the business value of these decisions. 👉 There is a lot of conflicting survey data out there about whether people care about sustainability when making purchasing decisions! For every survey that says "Nearly six in ten consumers surveyed are willing to change their shopping habits to reduce environmental impact." there is another one that says "25% of consumers who claim sustainability is a priority will actually choose price over sustainability if the two are in conflict." 👉 In reality, there is no singular answer. How and to what degree sustainability helps your business be successful is driven by your brand's unique selling proposition and the desires and identities of the individuals you sell to. 👉 Many of the most rapidly growing brands have rooted their entire DNA in sustainability, ethics, transparency, durability, and circularity. If that is your brand then YES - sustainability must be a key factor in every decision you make. (unsurprisingly, these are some of my favorite brands!) 👉 Other brands have built their USP on accessibility, convenience, cost competitiveness, and business model disruption. These brands can improve loyalty and employee satisfaction by making *more* sustainable decisions (but may not be well positioned to make the *most* sustainable decision at every turn - as cost, aesthetics and operations may need to come first) 👉 Other, often well established, brands have built their business on luxury, prestige, and design / performance innovation. For these brands, sustainability is often a requirement that in order to stay relevant, avoid internal or external backlash, and/or ensure they stay compliant with legislation. Bottom line - it matters...and positive improvements can almost always benefit your brand / business -- but how and to what degree is unique to your value proposition. https://lnkd.in/gdtxT-26 How do you answer this question in your business? Have sustainability improvements helped drive sales, acquisition, loyalty, cost savings, or mitigated risk / challenges? #sustainablebrands #sustainablebusiness #sustainability #businessstrategy
