About us

ELT Professionals for Palestine is a global network of English language teaching (ELT) professionals and other freedom-driven people organising towards freedom, justice and peace in Palestine, in Lebanon, in Syria and around the world. We aim to create a space in the field of ELT for professionals to come together to break the silence about the genocide, ethnic cleansing, apartheid and oppression being perpetuated against the Palestinian people, and to find ways to stand in solidarity with them. Currently our focus is on raising awareness through online events and social media channels -- for ELT professionals and for the wider community -- and on our English tutoring programme for Palestinians. This is a space where all ELT professionals who support Palestine belong, regardless of their age, sex, race, gender identity, religion, ethnicity, ability, sexual orientation, work experience or current role. We welcome diverse voices, while striving to centre the voices of Palestinians. We are also on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube.

Chef Mahmoud will be missed. Every day or so, he would leave me a voice note: "Hani, I need to get produce to the hospital. Hani, I need to buy medicine for the medical point. The teachers need supplies." He absolutely refused to leave the north because he felt he could still help people. He had already secured two months’ worth of food for the hospital, along with blankets, diapers, and baby formula that he personally purchased. Just yesterday, he requested nearly $4,500 for the second shipment of produce this month. He also informed one of our donors that a private pharmacy was selling its inventory, and he wanted us to buy it to donate to the hospital. He always had a green light to act on these things. When my sister would tell him, “That’s too much,” he’d insist he had cleared it with me and a donor. I don’t know what our family would look like without our baby brother. My heart aches for my parents and his children, who are now left without their loving, caring dad. What gives us a small measure of comfort is knowing he was doing God’s work in North Gaza. Someone he helped along the way would certainly vouch for the life he lived and the difference he made. The Gaza Soup Kitchen is assessing our operations, but we won’t be going anywhere. We will continue to support the hospital and honor his legacy of service. P.S. I just learned that when our neighbors tried to carry his remains to the hospital, where he was headed, they came under sniper fire. Instead, they withdrew and took him home instead.

  • From Jewish Voice for Peace: "Since 1978, the world has observed the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People every November 29th. This year, as Palestinians in Gaza continue to endure 14 months of US-backed Israeli genocide, standing in international solidarity with Palestinians is more crucial than ever. The international community has met this horrifying political movement with unprecedented solidarity with Palestinians in their struggle against genocide, for freedom, self-determination, and the right of return. We stand with them. The global fight for a free Palestine comes from a long lineage of struggle and solidarity. Among the leaders of this liberatory movement are artists. Swipe to take in a variety of visual expressions of support from around the world for Palestinians’ struggle for freedom, self-determination, and the right of return to their homelands. Inevitably, oppressed people everywhere will seek — and gain — their freedom. And the global movement to gain that liberation supports Palestinians’ steadfast struggle of over 75 years for liberation. Another world is possible. Together, we will never stop fighting for a future where Palestinians can live their lives with dignity and justice. These posters are from commemorations of International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People from the 1970s up to the present day." For more information, visit palestineposterproject.org

🛑 While there is a (hopefully lasting) ceasefire in Lebanon, the genocidal nightmare in #Gaza continues. 345,000 people face catastrophic levels of hunger (per #UN OCHA) https://lnkd.in/eNcHytEH Of the UN’s 41 attempts to support people besieged in North Gaza so far in November, all were either denied (37) or impeded (four). Meanwhile, heavy bombing is ongoing. We need a new word for the cruelty by Israel. 👉🏼 Speak up! Don't be a #bystander to this live-broadcasted annihilation of Palestinians. • In this week’s edition of Letters from Gaza, Riham Alnaji shares her thoughts on various aspects of Israel’s war on the civilian population of Gaza, from memories of lost loved ones to the challenges of teaching through a genocide, as well as her hopes for a brighter future. “I believe it is my duty as a human being to reduce the pain and suffering of my community members and the civilians of Gaza, mainly the vulnerable parties: women and children. That is the main reason why I have chosen to be part of a dedicated humanitarian team, because we share a common vision of building a better future for the orphan children and making them believe that they are not alone and they will never be left alone. We are here for their happiness and support. We are here for their promising future and beautiful dreams. We are here for them despite the miseries and disasters. We are here for the sake of humanity.”
