What’s today’s high-impact practice? Family Planning Integration! Our new Accelerating Choice, Equity, and Sustainability for Services (ACCESS) project, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), aims to transform family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH) services across program partner countries with high unmet need. ACCESS will expand equitable access to high-quality healthcare, thereby improving health outcomes for underserved populations, and will also support the integration of FP/RH into other essential health areas including gender-based violence (GBV); HIV; and maternal, newborn, and child health and nutrition. About us
EngenderHealth envisions a gender-equal world where all people achieve their sexual and reproductive health and rights. We know that sexual and reproductive health and rights are completely and inextricably intertwined with gender equality. We also know that marginalized groups—such as girls, women, and gender minorities; adolescents and youth; people with disabilities; economically disadvantaged groups; and rural and other hard-to-reach populations—are particularly vulnerable to discriminatory practices that can prevent them from leading healthy lives. But that can change. We believe that if all people are empowered and engaged; and if they live in supportive communities where systems and institutions provide high-quality, gender-equitable sexual and reproductive healthcare; and if policies, laws, and process are supportive, then they will exercise their rights to gender-equitable sexual and reproductive health services and participate as equal members of society.

We invite you to join us this month as we explore scaling up High Impact Practices (HIPs). Over the many years that EngenderHealth has worked in #SRHR we have learned a lot of lessons about effective programs. HIPs are a set of evidence-based family planning practices. A HIP has demonstrable impact in achieving various family planning outcomes including: modern contraceptive uptake, reduction in unintended pregnancy, reduction in overall fertility, or at least one of the primary proximate determinants of fertility (delay of marriage or sexual initiation for adolescents, birth spacing, exclusive breastfeeding and postpartum abstinence). Vetting criteria also include: replicability, scalability (i.e., potential application in a wide range of settings), sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
