Epic-Cure stands for: Zero Food Waste, Zero Food Insecurity, A Healthy Environment, and Self-Reliance

About us

Epic-Cure Inc. was founded in 2018 in response to the staggering amount of food waste in our country. Our Mission: Eliminate food waste and hunger through food rescue and distribution and engage seniors and other volunteers to teach veterans, active military personnel, and middle school students at Title-1 schools to safely prepare meals, providing them with practical life skills and self-confidence from real achievement, fostering self-reliance. We are volunteers with deep roots in Saint Johns and Putnam counties (FL) and are committed to nourish our planet and our community, providing good food to those in need, and engendering an environment of accomplishment and success necessary to break the cycles of poverty and food insecurity. What we do Food Rescue: We collect or accept donated food from the USDA, Feeding Northeast Florida, grocery store, logistics and trucking companies, food distributors, farms, and food banks. Epic-Cure currently processes approximately 600,000 pounds of food monthly. By keeping food out of landfills, we reduce harmful methane gas emissions, fostering a more healthy planet. Food Distribution: We distribute food to more than 2,200 food insecure families through 20+ mobile food distributions throughout NE Florida daily. Cooking Classes: Engage Senior volunteers to work with school aged children, teaching them cooking skills to build their resumes and helping them feed their families, fostering self reliance and improving the health and well being of our community's senior citizens. Emergency Response: As a Preferred Partner of FEMA, and as an Emergency Responder for the Feeding America network, Epic-Cure responds to the need of the NE Florida community in the wake of natural disasters in the community. Food as Medicine: Epic-Cure regularly hosts medical professionals at its food distributions to screen the most vulnerable for health conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, and other chronic conditions.

  • Thank you for your support! We are a 100% volunteer organization which means your donation goes directly towards our operations. For every $1 donated = $82.38 worth of food. We feed 8000 families locally each month, but that is not all! "The next thing you know, Epic Cure, Inc. sent us four pallets with (meals ready to eat). We have, like, thousands of dollars of baby formula, diapers, wipes. You name it; we’ve hauled it up here. We’ve even had the use of two large airplanes donated to us today to move stuff.” https://lnkd.in/eMS4CeQ3?

  • 🚨 Urgent Call to Action: Help Us Keep Our Doors Open! 🚨 We have until October 18th to raise $50,000 for our warehouse relocation, or we will be forced to close down our operations in Putnam County. In addition to relocation costs, we need to fundraise for the increased rent cost. The new warehouse we have identified comes with a $4,000 increased monthly rent ($10,000 per month total). We are hoping to raise at least  $24,000,(6 months worth of the increased rent cost) before we sign the lease. This move is critical for us to continue serving the community. The warehouse is the heart of our mission, and without it, we can’t provide the essential resources and support that so many families and individuals rely on. We need your help to reach this goal and keep our impact alive. Please consider donating, sharing, or reaching out with any resources or partnerships that could help. Every bit counts in keeping our community thriving. Let's come together to make this happen! Yesterday, UF Health St. Johns Care Connect, Publix Super Markets, and Epic-Cure Inc.. teamed up to provide 40,000 pounds of free food and household essentials to 500 families. The essentials included fresh dairy, meats, grains, fruits, vegetables, snacks, baby formula, menstrual products, and dental hygiene products. Many items were rescued from places like grocery stores and restaurants that would have otherwise been discarded. We want to express our immense gratitude to Epic-Cure, Publix, and the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office for their invaluable assistance in making this event a resounding success for our community.

  • Epic-Cure's Urgent Fight to Secure the Future of Food Relief in Putnam County Epic-Cure needs your help to meet our B.A.G. - our Big Audacious Goal of raising $100,000 to keep up the good work! https://gofund.me/2faee4f0 Epic-Cure®, a 100% volunteer-driven nonprofit founded in 2018, has been a lifeline for thousands of people in Northeast Florida’s most underserved communities. With a mission to combat food waste and food insecurity, we serve as both a food bank and a food pantry. Over the past five years, we’ve rescued and distributed more than 26 million pounds of food, turning every $1.00 in operating costs into $82.38 worth of groceries for families in need. But now, Epic-Cure® is facing an unprecedented challenge. On August 19th, we received devastating news: the lease for our Palatka warehouse—the hub of our food rescue and distribution efforts—has been terminated early. We have until December 1, 2024, to vacate the building, a space we’ve called home since May 2020. This facility is critical to our ability to provide free food to thousands of vulnerable families in Putnam County—one of the poorest regions in Florida—and neighboring counties like St. Johns, Duval, and Flagler. The loss of this warehouse would deal a significant blow to these efforts. Putnam County faces extreme challenges, with a poverty rate of 23.2%, an employment rate of only 43.6%, and a disability rate of 20.7%—all well above Florida’s state averages. This is not just a story of numbers; it’s a story of people. Seniors, children, veterans, and individuals with disabilities rely on us for their next meal. In 2024 alone, as of August, we’ve distributed $9.3 million worth of groceries to food-insecure individuals through 208 food distributions in Putnam County. Over 30% of those served are seniors, 25% are children under 18, and 21% are individuals with disabilities. Additionally, we’ve provided 236,600 pounds of food to local food pantries and nonprofits to further extend our impact. Despite this enormous setback, the spirit of Epic-Cure® remains unshaken. Our strength lies in the tireless dedication of our volunteers and the unwavering support of our community. We urgently need a new logistics facility to continue serving those most in need. We have identified one that would be suitable, but we need assistance with refrigeration equipment relocation costs and necessary modifications to make the space ready for USDA inspection which is estimated to be $100,000. Now is the time to rally together and ensure that Epic-Cure® continues to be a lifeline for food-insecure families in Putnam County and beyond. With your help, we can secure a new facility, continue our mission, and ensure that no one in our community goes hungry. Learn more about the story of how the Palatka warehouse came to be by visiting our GoFundMe page. And, of course, PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN. https://gofund.me/2faee4f0 https://lnkd.in/e9ZHzRid

  • SustainU is a division of Epic-Cure. SustainU is a free after school cooking program for middle school aged students. *We teach them about food waste. *We teach them about nutrition. *We help them build resumes. *Our amazing chefs provide mentorship to help them develop resiliency. After class, they are able to bring the meal they prepared home to their families. Tonight’s menu: Baked Chicken Caprese It got an 8 out of 10 rating from our students at the Boys & Girls Club tonight. I wonder how the parents rate dinner ready to eat when they got home from work?
