Teacher shortages continue to challenge schools nationwide, but the scarcity of Black educators is particularly alarming. In 2021, only 6.1% of U.S. teachers were Black, a result of past and ongoing inequities in teacher training and employment. Research shows that a diverse teaching workforce benefits all students, yet achieving this diversity remains a critical challenge. The Southern Education Foundation’s latest report sheds light on the systemic barriers Black students face, underscoring how racial inequities and segregation persist, despite the progress made since Brown v. Board of Education. Access the full report here: https://lnkd.in/gyk82fND Southern Education Foundation
