Many Americans are feeling squeezed by high #housing costs, grocery bills, gas prices, and more. How are these expenditures affecting their #financial lives and what can be done to provide some relief? Urban recently explored these issues with National Economic Advisor Lael Brainard and introduced a new tool that helps provide a more holistic understanding of people’s financial well-being. Designed by Urban’s Financial Well-Being Data Hub, the tool allows researchers, policymakers, and local officials to browse more than 300 financial well-being metrics across publicly available data sources. With a fuller understanding of Americans’ financial well-being, decisionmakers are better equipped to ensure all people have the resources they need to thrive. Watch the conversation and learn more about Urban’s new tool. https://urbn.is/45yDl4q #LiveatUrban

“What we're hearing most is that young people first of all, say, ‘Stop fixing us, fix yourself. Fix the structure, fix the systems.’ They are very aware that their mental health isn't just about them feeling better, but living in communities that have therapeutic landscapes, communities where there's safety, where there is access to high quality education, where their transportation and housing, unmet needs are bridged.” —Wizdom Powell Listen to this conversation with Wizdom Powell, chief purpose officer of Headspace, and cohost Kimberlyn Leary. This #Pride Month, learn more about Urban Institute’s fifth Do No Harm Guide which examines the current state of #data around #gender, gender identity, and sexual orientation. Our goal is to provide a series of considerations regarding collecting, analyzing, and communicating quantitative data on these topics. Collecting demographic or identity-based data is often complicated by the evolution and nuance of language; words or phrases used yesterday may not be the same today or tomorrow. By understanding these changes and employing data best practices, researchers, analysts, and other stakeholders can help ensure that such data are used for good—to help address disparities and inequities faced by LGBTQIA+ people and to assess the effects of policies, interventions, and societal attitudes on their lives.
