Etsy is proud to be the home for human creativity online. Etsy CEO Josh Silverman and CTO Rachana Kumar spoke last week at global tech conference Web Summit to discuss how in today’s increasingly automated world, we’re using technology to make Etsy more Etsy. In conversation with Axios’ Hope King, Josh shared how Etsy has deepened our commitment to our mission to Keep Commerce Human, from improving the shopping experience on Etsy to centering sellers across our marketing. Rachana spoke with Fortune’s Massimo Marioni about the cutting-edge machine learning and GenAI that powers Etsy’s shopping experience, and how we’re working to increase access to this technology across every area of our business. Creating a more streamlined platform that better serves all our stakeholders, from our teams to our buyers and sellers is part of our mission here at Etsy. Thanks to the Web Summit team and our thoughtful moderators for the great conversations!

Last week, we celebrated creativity, craft, and the work Nest is doing to advance the global handcraft economy at a benefit dinner with Etsy in New York City! It was an intimate evening honoring the incredible power of craft to create a more equitable and beautiful world. The evening was especially engaging as we held a fireside chat where Rebecca van Bergen, Nest’s Founder and Executive Director, spoke with Raina Moskowitz, Etsy’s Chief Operating and Marketing Officer, and, Vina Brown, cultural entrepreneur and founder of Indigenous Jewelry Brand Copper Canoe Woman, about the profound role handcraft plays in shaping the economy and uplifting communities. We are grateful for the generous support of our community who continue to make our work possible. Together, we are reaching more artisans, makers, and creatives with the business support and resources they need to be change-makers in their homes, communities, and the world at large. ✨ #NestBenefitDinner #Etsy #CopperCanoeWoman #FiresideChat #NYC #NewYorkCity #Craft #Creativity #HandcraftEconomy #BuildaNest

This evening Etsy reported our third quarter results. “Our third quarter consolidated results came in roughly as anticipated, with some incremental pressure on Etsy marketplace year-over-year GMS, healthy growth in revenue, and continued strength in our adjusted EBITDA profitability,” said Josh Silverman, Etsy, Inc. Chief Executive Officer. ”We made excellent progress improving Etsy marketplace customer experiences - from Gifting, to Quality, a new loyalty program, investing in our app, and more - all of which we believe will drive engagement and frequency over time. While 2024 has been a challenging period for discretionary goods, we are investing with discipline and focus to make Etsy even more Etsy - which we believe will lift our boat when the tide comes back in again.” To watch the full video earnings call, see investors.etsy.com.

This past weekend, Etsy hosted an immersive Holiday Pop-Up, and it was a huge success! 🎁🧡 This interactiveIRL shopping experience in the heart of NYC introduced in-person buyers to some of the best of Etsy – such as thoughtful gift ideas and unique customizable finds. Etsy sellers Jill Foreman, Jen Kitagawa, Priyanka Batra and Karen Brown offered interactive installations, like custom monogramming, live portrait drawings, and more. And, we partnered with The Infatuation to curate delicious treats from fan-favorite brands Salt & Straw and Cloudy Donut. We invited sellers to preview the Pop-Up for an opportunity to get inspired and connect with members of the Etsy team. It was incredibly valuable to meet and learn from everyone who came out. We couldn’t be more thrilled at our community’s reaction to this activation, from the line down the block ahead of opening to the meaningful, inspiring connections we had with our sellers. Here’s to a successful start to the holiday season! 🎉

“I design pieces that are meant to be purposeful, beautiful, and that feel good to hold in your hands.” - Mary Lee, creator and owner of Etsy shop Mammoth and Minnow 🧡 At Etsy, we’re shining a light on standout shops from Etsy’s talented seller community, offering a behind-the-scenes look at sellers like Mary. We asked Mary about her creative journey, here’s what she shared: “To me, Keeping Commerce Human means prioritizing connection, art, and community,” Mary said. “The items in my shop are individually handmade and each of them retains the unique touches and experiences that vary from piece to piece, capturing a specific time and place. From the differences in clay batches to the humidity in my studio during the week(s) it took to dry to the fingerprints left when forming, shaping, and finishing a piece, no two are exactly alike.” We’re proud to be the home for talented artisans like Mary, helping them turn their creativity into opportunity. One of Etsy’s Guiding Principles is to Minimize Waste. 🌱 We work to live this ideal across every aspect of our business – including in managing the infrastructure that supports Etsy’s day-to-day operations. That’s why, since migrating to the cloud in 2020, we’ve established a team dedicated to maximizing the value of Etsy’s cloud usage, and raising the flag when there are improvements we can make. Check out a recent post on Code as Craft, Etsy’s engineering blog, on how our FinOps team forecasts, monitors and optimizes Etsy’s Cloud usage, including how Etsy engineers leveraged Machine Learning to minimize waste in model deployment. ☁️ Read more here: etsy.me/cloud-usage
