Belonging isn’t just something you can layer onto a tech platform — it has to be a fundamental part of everything you build. When someone comes to Pinterest looking for plus-sized fashion or hairstyles for Black women, they shouldn’t have to work hard to find what they need. Our content should reflect those who use the platform. That’s why we started listening, learning and collaborating with our community to make Pinterest more inclusive. We’ve made great strides towards building a platform where everyone feels seen, valued and included in the content they discover. But there’s more work to do—and we are committed to the journey. I was honored to discuss the importance of representation and more at ADCOLOR Conference and Awards 2024 with Ruth Umoh, Lola Bakare and Naeemah LaFond! #ADCOLOR2024 #TechInclusion #ProductDevelopment #DiversityInTech

Thrilled to see that Pinterest has been named one of America’s Greenest Companies by Newsweek, GIST Impact and Planet-A. This list highlights US companies committed to reducing their environmental impact in key areas like greenhouse gas emissions, water management and waste reduction. Building Pinterest's sustainability program from the ground up has been the opportunity of a lifetime and I’m humbled to see Pinterest recognized alongside so many other companies who have paved the way. Where other companies are mandating a return to in-person work, Pinterest is doubling down on flexible work. As a mom of two daughters who grew up in the social media age, and a longtime Pinterest user myself, it’s important to me that Pinterest models our values of positivity and support for well-being in how we work. That means making sure Pinterest remains a fantastic place to work – where people from new parents to people taking care of sick or aging family members can count on bringing their full selves to work and prioritize their mental health. So great to speak with Emma Burleigh in Fortune about how our Pinflex model keeps us true to who we are as a company and helps us attract a more diverse workforce! https://lnkd.in/gFbK74Q8

This Native American Heritage Month, our PIndigenous employee resource group celebrates with the theme, “Weaving the fabric of social community.” Here’s what PIndigenous shared: “The theme aims to acknowledge that as many of us stay connected online, we continue to find ways to honor, recognize and appreciate Indigenous communities all over the world. We are all related. As the month kicks off, our community reflects on inspiring moments from the past year and looks ahead to upcoming events in November. 🎨 Alebrije Workshop for employees 🎙️ A fireside chat for employees with actress Alaqua Cox 🤝 AISES Conference 2024 🛍️ Indigenous Futures 4Ever event during Sante Fe Indian Market As we head into Native American Heritage Month, our community is inspired by the incredible leaders and talent that are paving the way for so many of our Indigenous people in areas across politics, entertainment, music, film, etc. We're celebrating NAHM with our communities, allies and relatives. May the road ahead be bright, inclusive and uplifting.”

Our Asians@ employee resource group is helping us celebrate Filipino Heritage Month with member spotlights. Meet Stephanie Ocampo, Head of Social at Pinterest. "My parents were both born in the Philippines and moved to the US in 1968. They were the first of both of their families to move to America. My mother became an accomplished architect, and her success came at a time when there was no Filipino representation in the industry. She taught me how important it is to help and mentor other Filipinos in spaces where there aren't many of us. I'm happy that in my role as head of social, our team is able to reflect all of the cultural communities that make up our user base. Making sure that people are able to see themselves reflected in our feeds is such a great part of my job!" 🫶

Last week, I was lucky enough to attend the second annual Rare Impact Fund Benefit. It was an amazing event that focused on raising awareness and funds for youth mental health all over the world. At the event, Pinterest created an interactive experience where attendees could take a photo or write a note to celebrate their best self, and then pin it to our Pinterest wall. I even shot my own affirmation pic! As a company that’s invested in the wellbeing of our users and focused on creating product features to help people feel seen and celebrated, showing up in places with people who share these values is essential. I am proud of Pinterest’s Impact Fund which is strategically focused on supporting emotional wellbeing and was recently recognized as a top 5 global private funder of mental health. One of the best parts of the night was meeting Selena Gomez, the founder of Rare Impact Fund and  Rare Beauty. She's a strong advocate for mental health, and it was so inspiring to hear her speak. Big thanks to the Pinterest and #RareImpactFundBenefit team for putting together such a meaningful event that highlighted the importance of mental health, especially for young people.
