🌍💰 Did you know? For the first time, Eunomia Research & Consulting has analyzed the subsidies received by the plastics industry globally, and the numbers are staggering. 🧐 Every year, $70 billion in subsidies are funneled into this sector—with Saudi Arabia leading as the largest provider. It's not enough that plastics made from fossil fuels pollute nearly every corner of our planet. They also receive billions of taxpayer dollars to continue doing so. Sometimes, the decisions we make as a society are hard to understand. 🤷♀️ #Sustainability #Plastics #EnvironmentalImpact #ClimateAction #CircularEconomy
European Bioeconomy Bureau
Non-profit Organizations
We support bioeconomy promotion in Europe through research on technology and policies for market and social change.
About us
We aim to support those promoting the bioeconomy in Europe through research leading to technological change as well as policy instruments which lead to market and social change. We believe the bioeconomy can be an effective tool to reducing the impact of certain industrial processes and become an economically viable pathway to “doing more with less”. The European Bioeconomy Bureau (EBB) is a Non Governmental Organisation registered in Belgium (an ASBL) founded by David Newman in 2023 who has worked in the bioeconomy sectors for over 25 years, with associations and industrial organisations representing those producing materials and energy from renewable, waste and plant-based sources. He has long experience in European policy development as well as practical experience with industrial partners.

We have written this short assessment of the new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation with a vision which is naturally one focused upon the future of #compostable packaging. As such it is an interpretation, but we hope it helps you understand this very long and complex piece of legislation. Happy to have comments and feedback. #Sostenibilità #Innovazione #Biometano #GestioneIdrica #Formazione #LuissBusinessSchool #ACEA

🌱 Safeguarding Europe's Soils: Insights from the Latest JRC/EEA Report 🌍 The health of our soils is critical to agriculture, biodiversity, water quality, and human well-being. Yet, Europe's soils face significant threats from degradation, impacting their resilience and functionality. Our partners at the European Bioeconomy Bureau, David Robert Newman FCIWM, highlight this in their recent report, urging sustainable management and community engagement to ensure ecosystem resilience. As #BRILIAN, we champion actions like sustainable soil governance and rural community involvement to combat these challenges. Together, we can build resilient ecosystems for future generations. Yesterday the shameful decision was made to delist wolves from Annex II of the Bern Convention, effectively reducing safeguards protecting them from hunting. Starting next March countries will be able to set an annual quota of wolves to kill. The decision was taken despite overwhelming evidence that the wolf population holds little or no risk for humans and has a fundamental role to play in maintaining a balance of deer and wild boar populations. The excuse that 50,000 sheep and goats are killed by wolves annually (yes, it is true) fails to mention that they represent just 0.065% of European livestock- such a small percentage as to be irrelevant. Kudos to some countries for voting against delisting including the UK and Bosnia. Shame on the others for being pushed into this, we suspect, by the EU Commission President after her donkey was attacked and killed by wolves a couple of years ago. EBB and other NGOs who campaigned against this decision will continue to do so. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/eMHByRdZ #EBB #WolfConservation #Wildlife #Biodiversity #BernConvention

David Robert Newman FCIWM, co-founder of the European Bioeconomy Bureau (EBB), is sharing his expertise as a lecturer on biogas for the Executive Master in Circular Economy Management at Luiss Business School: https://lnkd.in/dNp5hkq He led a session last Monday and will be back next Monday to inspire and guide professionals in this innovative field. This Master’s program is tailored for those aiming to lead in markets focused on end-of-life product management, recycling, secondary raw materials, energy saving, sustainable mobility, and industrial symbiosis projects. It is especially valuable for public organizations driving environmental policies and eco-industrial development, fostering collaboration with private actors. With a hands-on approach, the program features a faculty of seasoned professionals, managers, and entrepreneurs who are shaping the circular economy. At EBB, we support the bioeconomy through research and policy advocacy, driving technological, market, and social transformations. We believe in “doing more with less” and see the bioeconomy as a sustainable solution to reduce the environmental impact of industrial processes. #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #Bioeconomy #LuissBusinessSchool #EBB
