About us

EWMD is an international network of women in management, individual and corporate members, drawn from professional organisations and all areas of business, education, politics and culture. EWMD was founded in 1984 with the vision to improve the quality of management with respect to people, children, age and the cultural diversity of Europe. Women and men as individuals, double career couples or families should have a balanced work and private life. EWMD has members in more than 40 cities in Europe and some more in the United States, South Africa and Asia. There are active national chapters, and a growing number of city networks. Members are connected in local and in online communities, with blogs, wikis and mailinglists. The network highlight is the international conference every year, which focuses on a broad spectrum of issues relating to new trends, but more and more smaller cross-border-meetings with time for networking and interactive workshops.

  • Today, we honor the incredible contributions of persons with disabilities and advocate for their rights. Did you know that over *1 billion people* worldwide live with some form of disability? This accounts for approximately *15%* of the global population. Despite these numbers, many individuals with disabilities face significant barriers in accessing education, employment, and healthcare. For instance, studies show that *only 36%* of persons with disabilities are employed compared to *75%* of those without disabilities. On this important day, let's commit to creating a more inclusive world. We can all play a part in breaking down barriers and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Together, we can make a difference! #EWMD #InternationalDayofPersonsWithDisabilities #Inclusion #Accessibility #BreakBarriers #Diversity #Advocacy

Bridging the tech skills gap and advancing digital sovereignty requires not only leveraging diverse talent, but also changing the narrative to focus on systemic solutions rather than individual fixes.". At the bottom, there is the title of the conference: Redefining Workplace Equity: Let's stop fixing women and embrace systemic solutions. • "Empowering women by shaping innovation-led public policy," says our speaker Melissa Mesek commenting on her angle for our EWMD conference on 4th December 2024 in Brussels with the title: "Brussels Declaration: Redefining Workplace Equity: Let's Stop Fixing Women and Embrace Systemic Solutions" About Melissa: Melissa founded her own business, an educational service provider, in 2014 which was successfully internationalised in 2018. The business traded internationally for two years with a business partner, including a small team, alongside Melissa. In December 2019, the business ceased trading, as both business partners moved to academia in order to pursue their postdoctoral research degrees. Melissa currently works as a Lecturer in Management at Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland and is a Research Fellow with the @European Centre of Advanced Studies. Recently, Melissa has successfully defended her doctoral thesis focusing on the empowerment of women tech entrepreneurs in the Scottish as well as Indian regional entrepreneurial ecosystems including a Feminist Economics lens, with an emphasis on public policymaking in both geographical contexts. Her research projects span equality, diversity and inclusion of minoritised and disadvantaged actors; gender equality coupled with public policymaking; and female entrepreneurship in international, and regional entrepreneurial ecosystems. One of her forthcoming book chapters includes a critical feminist exploration of her own lived experiences across the German and Scottish entrepreneurial ecosystems, reviewing the problematisation of unpaid social caregiving in the current patriarchal societal paradigms of both contexts. 🫵🏼 Interested in joining the event?
