Today is National Random Acts of Kindness Day! This national celebration is a day where individuals, groups and organizations come together to do a random act of kindness and we invite you to do the same! You never know what someone is going through, so whether that is smiling at someone, sharing encouraging words, buying someone's coffee, or giving a homeless person food or water, small acts like this can go a long way. Times are challenging for many people in the Denver area and beyond so today practice kindness with a random act, you never know how much that can impact someone! #nationalrandomactsofkindnessday #endhomelessness #coloradononprofit

In 2024, Family Promise of Greater Denver was able to help 349 individuals and 105 families who were at risk of or currently facing homelessness.   We provided assistance through rental assistance, move-in assistance, shelter, and stabilization programs. We take safety and training very seriously at Family Promise of Greater Denver!   Yesterday our staff participated and got certified in CPR training. In 2024, the number of individuals facing homelessness reached record high numbers at 771,480, a 19% increase from 2023.   Colorado is the ninth state facing the highest rate of homelessness with 18,715 individuals facing homelessness at a given time. Throughout 2024, 6 in 10 people experiencing homelessness were in a shelter similar to the shelter Family Promise of Greater Denver offers.   The main cause of homelessness in the United States is the lack of affordable housing and only 1 in 4 people who quality for federal rental assistance actually receive it which is why Family Promise offers rental assistance to those who need it.   Our services are needed more than ever as the homeless issues continues to rise with no end or solution in sight so this year consider donating or volunteering with Family Promise and make a difference in people's lives.   #nonprofit #endhomelessness #familypromise

Even though Christmas is behind us, the Giving Machines are still operating until January 5th! Recently, Family Promise of Greater Denver held our annual Christmas party for the families who have gone through our program.   This year, 39% of people can not afford to purchase Christmas gifts for their friends and families due to the rising cost of living, difficult job market and the overall challenging climate we are experiencing.   Therefore, we are very grateful for every donor who adopted a family this year as well as the organizations who ran a toy drive in order to provide our families with a Christmas.
