Shipbuilding demands persistence and grit, qualities embodied by Madison Arneson, a recent hire in FMM yard services. Inspired by her grandfather, a shipfitter in the yard, Madison transitioned from bartending to shipbuilding. She attended a hiring event in July, but the timing wasn’t right. Unfazed, she tried again in August, only to face the same outcome. Undeterred, she went to a third hiring event in September, and this time, success! Since joining, Madison has set an example of what true grit looks like. Excelling in her current role, she aims to use the trade transfer process to become a shipfitter like her grandfather. Nicholas Gardner, Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist for FMG, searches daily for quality candidates. He recognized Madison's potential immediately. Nick said, “Madison is a great example of the kind of candidate we're looking for at these events. We're always looking to grow our crews, and while we didn't have anything for her the first two times, her persistence and clear dedication to wanting to work at the yard and eventually become a shipfitter made her an obvious choice when the position opened up.” With persistence and grit, Madison and the entire FMG team are bringing the future of shipbuilding on board 💪 Want to join us as we do it?
