FirstCarolinaCare Insurance Company exists to fulfill a need for affordable, quality coverage options. We offer employer group plans throughout North Carolina and individual and group Medicare Advantage plans under the name FirstMedicare Direct. Since 1999, we have worked with local doctors and hospitals to create health plans that fit the needs of our members, giving them access to a strong provider network, comprehensive coverage and a service team that’s always ready to assist.   • Starting January 1, 2025, for Medicare members with prescription drug coverage (Part D), there will no longer be a coverage gap, sometimes referred to as the “donut hole.” Once a Medicare Part D member reaches the end of their Initial Coverage Phase ($2,000 out-of-pocket cap for the year), they will pay $0 for their covered prescription drugs for the rest of the plan year.   • Seeking prenatal care early in pregnancy is key to a healthy pregnancy for you and your baby. 🤰 Once you think you’re pregnant, make an appointment with your OB-GYN. If you don’t have one, call your health insurance provider for help. If you don’t have insurance, contact your community health center or county health department for help. What may be performed during your prenatal visits: • Review of your medical history. • Complete physical exam. • Urine and blood tests. • Check on mother’s and baby’s health. • Healthy lifestyle recommendations. • Imaging tests such as an ultrasound.
