I’m known for fighting the good fight and tackling the seemingly impossible. After meeting with Brenda Clubine and Olivia Klaus and watching their documentary “Sin By Silence” back in 2010 …it made me think “that could’ve been my grandmother” that acted in self defense and sitting in Chowcilla. Great article by Hannah Wiley about the women who are still serving behind bars. My last two bills signed by Gov Jerry Brown were AB593 and AB1593, which gives a second chance for women convicted of life without parole, who suffered long term intimate batterers syndrome, to tell their real and extended stories about their life and plight. Since 2013, I’ve attended 6 parole board hearings. Things are definitely changing for the better (kudos to Gov Gavin Newsom) and we now have a “Home Free” space on Treasure Island for women (thanks to SF Mayor London Breed and Five Keys) who don’t have family or friends to live/transition after they are released. https://lnkd.in/g3Xu-up2 #supportingwomen Los Angeles Times Anti-Recidivism Coalition (ARC) Five Keys Schools and Programs Hannah Wiley London Breed for Mayor Gavin Newsom Brenda Clubine-Coolbaugh Olivia Klaus

This past Thursday, Back 2 Work's LA team, in collaboration with Five Keys Schools and Programs and Goodwill Industries International, put on a job and resource fair in La Puente for our participants and the community. Access to community resources and vocational services plays an integral role in successful reentry, and for that, we sincerely thank all those who attended and donated their time and resources to make it as great as it was! The future is bright ✨ #secondchances #reentryadvocate #reentrymatters #empowerment #proudtobebcoe
