And this postPerspective interview with Colorist Jill Bogdanowicz gives us the scoop about the making of the film. It covers everything from the attention to detail in the colours to the VFX-intensive shots. "A lot of the day-to-day work was about getting everything where it needed to be without introducing a problem elsewhere. That’s a lot of what color grading is about in any case, but it was definitely magnified here. "Creative genius" is not a label, it's a skill

This is John Lasseter and he created something EVERYONE recognizes It’s the Pixar lamp and its animation where it jumps on the “I”. It’s impossible not to recognize this particular animation but there is something really special and important about it. This animation is inspired by a 2-minute animated short film called Luxo Jr which is based on Lasseter’s desk lamp. It’s a very simple film but the impact it had was groundbreaking. “It was regarded as a breakthrough in the field of CGI. The ability of objects to shed light and shadows on themselves using shadow maps was astonishing back then and so was the photorealism. The way the lamps came alive is what separated Luxo Jr. from other shorts at the time. The way Pixar was able to make inanimate objects come to life in Luxo Jr. paved the way to give other inanimate objects life in Toy Story and Cars.” “It won an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film and it was the first computer-animated film to be nominated for an Academy Award.
