About us
Manufacturing industries continuously face the challenge of delivering high-quality products under high production rates while minimizing non-value-adding activities. The recent COVID-19 pandemic is causing manufacturers to rethink their global supply chains and the flexibility of their production sites to get a resilient manufacturing. Flex4Res aims to provide an open platform to support production networks' reconfiguration for resilient manufacturing value chains. Therefore, we will test and validate the integrated solution into four industrial pilot cases on the reconfiguration of different hierarchical layers from value-chain to machine and device. This project has received funding from the European Union‘s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101091903

🎄 Season's Greetings from the Flex4Res project team! From all of us at Flex4Res, we wish you a relaxing holiday season and a Happy New Year filled with health, happiness and success. ✨🎁 As the year comes to a close, we're reflecting on some highlights from 2024 for the whole EuProGigant Ecosystem: AMIDS - Austrian Manufacturing Innovation Data Space, DIONE-X, ESCOM, EuProGigant and Flex4Res. 👉 The project ecosystem at the Gaia-X stand at the HANNOVER MESSE 2024 This year’s participation at the HANNOVER MESSE was truly remarkable. German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, Dr Robert Habeck, visited the Gaia-X stand and expressed his interest in digital innovation and Industry 4.0. Additionally, Dr Daniela Brönstrup, Vice President of the Federal Network Agency, praised the approach to calculating the CO₂ footprint within the product development process. We were happy to welcome so many visitors eager to learn about European data-driven manufacturing solutions. 👉 EuProGigant Open House Day 2024 Under the motto "Navigating data spaces," the 2024 EuProGigant Open House Day in Vienna welcomed around 200 guests. The projects of our ecosystem showcased their latest progress. Austrian Federal Minister for Climate Action, Innovation and Technology, Leonore Gewessler, and Christina Decker, Head of Digital and Innovation Policy at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, highlighted the critical role of data spaces in driving economic, ecological and societal progress. They also emphasised the importance of Austria-Germany collaboration in fostering Gaia-X-compliant data exchange. At the end of another productive year, we also want to thank our project partners. Your dedication and collaboration have been instrumental in advancing supply chain resilience in these dynamic times. We look forward to continuing our journey with you in the coming year! We’re happy to announce that we joined forces with the projects RaRe2 and R3GROUP project. Our three projects are funded under the same call focused on rapid, reconfigurable production process chains. Together, we’re addressing some of the biggest challenges in manufacturing today, from supply chain disruptions to fast-evolving customer demands. Our collaboration officially kicked off on November 5th with an online workshop attended by various project representatives. In this session, we discovered that while each project approaches the challenges from a unique angle our shared mission is clear: empowering Europe’s manufacturing sector to be more adaptive and resilient. In light of the challenges posed by supply chain disruptions and rapidly evolving customer demands, we believe that by working together, we can strengthen the European manufacturing sector’s ability to adapt and respond effectively to these challenges! We are looking forward to our continued collaboration! "Fast forward digital transformation" – this motto perfectly captured the spirit of this year’s #OpenWorld24, organised by CONTACT Software. The data base project ecosystem participated with #ESCOM, EuProGigant and #Flex4Res as exhibitors, connecting with other IoT enthusiasts and contributing to the discussions about shaping the future of digital manufacturing. Here are some insights that resonate with our vision of working towards a resilient, data-driven and sustainable data and service ecosystem: 🔧 IoT innovations: The event showcased transformative IoT solutions aimed at enhancing manufacturing efficiency and therefore efficiency. These tools are streamlining workflows, fostering device communication and creating smarter, more adaptive production environments. 🤖 AI has come to stay: AI's role in manufacturing continues to grow. Reflecting on John Maynard Keynes words, "The difficulty lies not in the new ideas, but in escaping from the old ones.", several keynotes inspired us to explore AI’s potential for real-world applications. 🌱 Sustainable digitalisation: Platforms like Pontus-X, powered by deltaDAO AG, lower entry barriers to data spaces, enabling data exchange across organisations, sectors and countries – even for SMEs. The courage and open-mindedness of our industry partners investing in digitalisation, data spaces and AAS (Asset Administration Shells) show how research is being translated into actionable industry solutions.
