About us

Blade is a rapidly growing global air mobility platform utilizing a technology-powered, asset light model with unrivaled brand recognition. Blade recently became publicly listed (BLDE) and is focused on efforts to assist the aviation industry in order to accelerate its transition from conventional aircraft to quieter, cleaner Electric Vertical Aircraft (“EVA”), expand new air mobility routes, grow our network of captive passenger infrastructure, and continue to develop our consumer-to-cockpit technology stack. As one of the largest operators in the world of "organ donor transfer" flights, we see good in what we do at Blade every day. We put the same level of detailed focus and commitment into every flight, whether it's transporting a life-saving organ or commuters traveling for business or leisure.

When Electric Vertical Aircraft (“EVA” or eVTOL) are commercialized, Blade will unlock a significant opportunity: the ability to establish new, convenient landing zones for our fliers. The quiet and emission-free nature of these aircraft will make them more acceptable to residential communities and commercial areas, enabling the creation of landing zones that enhance appeal for both residents and businesses. Blade’s primary mission in its passenger business is facilitating the transition from helicopters to EVA. Over time, we anticipate this shift will also benefit our medical business, as more hospitals are likely to accommodate on-property landing zones once EVA becomes widely available. In the meantime, Blade, in collaboration with partners, is actively identifying and reopening conventional landing zones to expand routes at little to no cost to the company, as opportunities arise. Currently, we operate at only a fraction of the locations we believe will be accessible in the future with EVA. While you may know Blade for its operations in major cities, this video highlights some of the unique locations we serve outside these areas—today with helicopters, and tomorrow with EVA. Check out our Blade-managed landing pad at Ocean Resort, along with various private landing zones across the Northeast U.S. and Southern Europe. $BLDE

A significant policy statement by the incoming presidential administration has been a commitment to accelerate the certification and adoption of Electric Vertical Aircraft (“EVA” or “eVTOL”) in the U.S. We look forward to the potential of accelerating our timeline to transform our accessible fleet of helicopters to EVA using a rapid, but prudent, process.

On April 8, 2024, the world watched a full solar eclipse unfold across North America. A lucky few viewed the spectacle from within the path of totality, where the moon appeared to block the sun completely and perfectly for three minutes. Not to be outdone by spectacular feats of timing, BLADE coordinated the largest simultaneous movement of a group of aircraft ever to view a natural phenomenon while also serving rosé. From heights up to 45,000 feet, far above any cloud coverage or light pollution, 14 aircraft carrying 106 people entered observation zones from Buffalo, NY, to Chesuncook, ME, for a rare perspective on a once-in-a-generation event. Some considered it nearly impossible to complete the mission correctly at scale. But an embedded culture of planning, attention to detail, and multiple layers of redundancy made the experience as close to perfect as the totality itself.
