My fellowship with the Forge Institute has officially come to an end, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the experience. Over the past few months, working alongside the Academy team has been an inspiring and transformative journey. I want to extend my deepest thanks to Daniel Ross, Tina Lam, and Kent Greenwood for their mentorship and guidance. You all invested your time and expertise to help us navigate challenges that were, at times, outside our comfort zones. Your support has left a lasting impact, and I’m excited to carry the lessons you taught me into the next chapter of my career. A special thank you to Lee Watson for your unwavering dedication to the cybersecurity community and your leadership in the DOD SkillBridge program. Your efforts provide transitioning veterans with the tools and opportunities to embark on successful post-military careers, and I am proud to have been part of that mission. To everyone at the Forge Institute, thank you for making this experience so meaningful. Your work and vision are inspiring, and I look forward to staying connected and supporting this incredible community in the future.

The release of the Federal Strategic Plan for Advancing STEM Education is an inspiring step toward fostering a brighter, more inclusive future in STEM! At Forge Institute, we recognize the critical role STEM plays in national resilience and innovation. Programs like STARBASE Arkansas exemplify how early engagement in STEM can ignite curiosity and nurture the next generation of talent. Let’s continue building partnerships and ecosystems that empower everyone to contribute to the future of STEM! #STEMEducation #ForgeInstitute #InnovationForAll
This week, National Science and Technology Council (NSTC)'s Committee on STEM (CoSTEM) released its new Federal Strategic Plan for Advancing STEM Education and Cultivating STEM Talent. This comprehensive framework – developed by OSTP, others across the Executive Office of the President, and over 20 federal agencies – has the potential to guide how the federal government, in coordination with multi-sector partners, can inspire, teach, recruit, train, and retain talent in STEM learning, working, and research environments across the country. We are so grateful to the 1,300+ individuals who participated in OSTP's and CoSTEM's public engagement activities and informed the development of this critical policy blueprint. By organizing federal efforts around 5 interconnected pillars (engagement, teaching and learning, workforce, research and innovation capacity, and environments) and 3 overarching principles (access and opportunity, partnerships and ecosystem development, and transparency and accountability), this plan can inform and support a nation that truly leverages the full potential of its STEM talent because STEM is for everyone! Cyber Alert: What the Telecom Network Compromise Means for You A recent cyberattack linked to a State Sponsored APT, Salt Typhoon, has targeted U.S. telecom networks, potentially exposing sensitive data and communications. This means that hackers could eavesdrop on calls, intercept text messages, or even disrupt essential services. What You Can Do: 1. Switch to encrypted apps for private and secure conversations. 2. Don't communicate with a different device type. While Android and iPhone devices are encrypted individually, messages sent between these devices are not. 3. Verify your accounts with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). 4. Be vigilant about phishing messages that try to trick you into revealing personal info. Why it Matters: Cyberattacks like this highlight the growing risks to personal privacy and business operations. By taking simple steps, you can protect yourself and your data.
