🎥 Meet #FRONTIERSFellow Suvi Jaakkola! 🩺 Suvi Jaakkola is a Finnish 🇫🇮 journalist specializing in social sciences and health journalism. At the Edinburgh Centre for Medical Anthropology, The University of Edinburgh, she is exploring how cultural and social factors shape health, illness, and medical practices. 🌊 #FRONTIERSfellow Samuel Schlaefli has reported on Denmark's fjords' devastating situation. 🇩🇰 His article, published in WOZ Die Wochenzeitung, covers the challenges of intensive pig farming and the climate crisis, both contributing to the destruction of marine life in the Danish fjords. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dUHrsX2S ( in 🇩🇪 ) During his #FRONTIERSResidency at the Aarhus Institute of Advanced Studies (AIAS) - Aarhus University, Samuel explored the impacts of nitrogen pollution from farming, the need for environmental action, and the growing civil society movement pushing for policy changes. 📸 In collaboration with photojournalist Michael Drost-Hansen, Samuel had the opportunity to visit affected areas like Vejle Fjord and a pig farm in Kolding. Samuel is now looking for additional opportunities to publish his findings in Danish or English media. Meet Daniella Fleming, a #FRONTIERSFellow and Scottish journalist specialising in science, technology, and the environment. Currently, Daniella is spending her #FRONTIERSresidency at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, collaborating with Professor Rachel Lowe and the Global Health Resilience Group 🇪🇸. During her residency, Daniella will explore critical questions such as: 💧 How is climate change contributing to the spread of waterborne diseases? 🌡️ What role does supercomputing play in predicting the impact of climate change on public health? 🦠 📹 Daniella creates different content for online platforms, TV, and radio, and she plans to produce a documentary at the end of her residency.
