In the past 10 years with #TeamFTI, Managing Director John Sutter has gone from running marathons to chasing three kids under five around the house. Read on to learn more. What is your favorite #TeamFTI memory?   John: FTI Consulting does a great job investing in our career development, which combined with external client experiences, creates a culture of continuous learning and growth. Mid-way through my career at FTI Consulting, I was selected for the firm's International Leadership Academy, a year-long program that connected me with colleagues globally and helped me better understand how we serve clients. More recently, I had the privilege of supporting a client's New York Stock Exchange listing, including joining them for the closing bell. One of my career top five moments is being on the floor at the exchange, working media and sharing in the excitement of our client's biggest moment. How did you discover your passion for energy?   John: Energy access is fundamental to people's livelihoods and our modern way of life. There's nothing more essential than being able to flip on a switch and know the power will be there. We're not drilling wells, turning wrenches or hanging wires, but the work we do matters in that we're helping companies advance critical energy infrastructure projects, connect with key stakeholders and advocate for impactful policy changes.   Who or what inspires you?   John: I'm driven by the challenges this career brings. Our clients come to us in critical, bet-the-company moments, and so we can never just stand still and rest on our past achievements. To be successful, we have to continually understand how the market is changing, move at a rapid pace and think creatively about the right solution for our client's needs. It's a tough gig, but it's so rewarding and keeps me coming back day after day.   Do you have any hobbies or skills that might surprise your colleagues?   John: I've run six marathons, each under four hours. Although, these days with three kids ages five and under, I'm logging my miles by chasing them around the house!

  • This year marks a special milestone for Megan McLaughlin Hawkins, who is celebrating 10 years with #TeamFTI! Read on to learn more, including why she believes FTI Consulting is a great place to grow your career. What was your first impression of FTI Consulting, and how has it evolved over the past 10 years? Megan: As a recent grad, I was excited to support a truly global team as a Corporate Communications professional. As I dove into my role, I was so impressed by our people’s depth of expertise across our five segments, as we truly have some of the world’s leading experts in their respective fields. Trying to summarize our experts’ credentials and thought leadership into 140-character tweets was quite the challenge! Jokes aside, I have the same impression today. It’s been incredible to be along for the ride as the company has almost doubled in size while still maintaining our “expert” focus and the entrepreneurial feel that our teams are most proud of. Why is FTI Consulting a great place to grow your career? Megan: I have been so fortunate to develop and grow my career at FTI Consulting. My coach and mentor Mollie Hawkes promised me during my interview that I’d “never be bored” and that has certainly been true! With a firm that’s grown so much over the last 10 years, there are always exciting new initiatives to tackle, and I’ve always been encouraged to take on new challenges or projects that interest me. In my ten years here, my role has evolved significantly – from supporting our social media and internal communications programs, to helping to launch our global Corporate Citizenship Program, to now supporting Investor Relations. FTI Consulting, and my amazing colleagues, have been so supportive of my career journey. What is your greatest personal or professional accomplishment? Megan: Personally, my greatest accomplishment is my family. Navigating the complex balancing act of a busy career with being an involved and present parent of two small children is a daily challenge, but my colleagues at FTI Consulting have been very supportive as I’ve navigated this exciting transition. I also could not do it without the teamwork and support of my husband, Craig. I’d also like to shout out my Mom, who is always willing to jump on a train to Boston to help our family out when I need to travel for quarterly earnings or investor meetings – we couldn’t do it without her support either😊. What are you passionate about outside of work? Megan: My children are four and two, so they drive much of my social agenda these days. We like to cook together, read books and put lots of miles on our double stroller as we explore Boston. When I do have free time, I love home improvement and home design projects. I also love to cheer for my two favorite Eagles football teams: Boston College and Philadelphia (Go Birds!!).
