  • Today, we pause to honor the courage, resilience, and selflessness of our veterans. For every moment they spent away from family, for every personal sacrifice made, and for their unwavering commitment to serving our country—thank you. Veterans don’t just protect borders; they protect our ideals, our values, and our communities. Their service reminds us that freedom is not guaranteed but earned. Today, let’s not only recognize their bravery but also the quiet strength it takes to return and build lives, families, and futures beyond the uniform. To our veterans: we see you, we honor you, and we are forever grateful. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do.

  • On International STEM Day, we celebrate the role that Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) play in shaping our world, while recognizing the need for greater diversity and women’s empowerment in these fields. Despite progress, the data reveals a significant gap: Women comprise only 28% of the STEM workforce, and even fewer hold positions in engineering and computer science, representing just 16% and 25%, respectively (source: AAUW). Companies that are more diverse are 33% more likely to outperform their less diverse counterparts, proving that inclusion drives innovation and success (source: McKinsey & Company). Here’s How We Can Bridge the Gap and Support Women in STEM: 1. Mentorship and Sponsorship Providing mentorship programs for women and underrepresented groups in STEM is essential. Mentors can help guide career development, offer industry insights, and provide moral support. Senior leaders who act as sponsors can help advance women into leadership positions and high-impact projects. 2. Education and Access We must start early by encouraging young girls and underrepresented groups to explore STEM fields. Offering scholarships, STEM-based extracurriculars, and hands-on learning experiences is critical to breaking down barriers. Organizations and schools can collaborate to make STEM education more accessible, especially in underserved communities. 3. Creating Inclusive Work Environments Building inclusive workplaces that celebrate diversity and address bias is key to retaining women in STEM. This includes implementing equitable promotion policies, offering flexible work arrangements, and fostering Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) that support diverse employees. Retention rates improve significantly when women feel valued and included. 4. Advocate for Visibility and Representation Increasing the visibility of women in STEM is vital for inspiring future generations. Promote women’s achievements, advocate for media representation, and encourage women to participate in speaking engagements and leadership roles to make STEM careers more relatable and inspiring to young women. 5. Support Diversity-Focused STEM Initiatives Supporting STEM diversity initiatives like coding camps for girls, diversity scholarships, or inclusive STEM competitions can make a lasting impact. Companies can sponsor or partner with nonprofits that focus on STEM education and career development for women and underrepresented groups, helping bridge the gap. Call to Action: How are you supporting diversity and inclusion in STEM, or empowering women to pursue STEM careers? Let’s celebrate International STEM Day by taking actionable steps toward creating a more diverse, inclusive future in STEM. Connect with me to explore how we can foster equity in STEM and inspire the next generation of leaders. #InternationalSTEMDay #WomenInSTEM #MentorshipMatters #STEMInclusion #STEMEducation #STEMForAll #SupportWomenInSTEM #STEMDevelopment

What an incredible day at the 2024 TCSHRM Fall Leadership Conference! 🎉 This event was even more special because my wonderful husband, Milton D., could join me. It was fun having him step into my world of HR, and I think we both agree—it was a day to remember! ❤️ 🙌🏾 A huge thank you to TCSHRM for hosting this fantastic event. It felt great to be back, surrounded by so many incredible leaders and familiar faces. I loved reconnecting with Krysta Kaner, MA, SHRM-SCP, Megan Foley, SPHR Holly Tapper, Tammy Smith, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, Steve Jewell and Trisha Farrow, to name a few, and I chatted with more but couldn't list them all. I also met some new people like Kendra Wilson (it is always nice to meet another Kendra). The room's energy, great learning moments, panelist insights, and even laughter (thanks, Keith Peterson ) were amazing! I can’t wait to continue these conversations and keep the momentum going. #TCSHRM2024 #LeadershipInHR #HighFunctioningTeams #TCSHRM #NetworkingAndGrowth #MemoriesInTheMaking

  • My company approaches problem-solving by looking at all the aspects that can impact a decision and culture. Assessing the source, not just the outcome, is essential. Reviewing where the pain point occurs will only solve the current issue, not the root of where it may derive.

  • Are You a New Manager or Executive? Let’s Talk About What Nobody Tells You—It Can Feel Lonely. Stepping into a leadership role can be exciting and rewarding, but there's a part of the journey that often goes unspoken: it can also feel isolating. Whether you’re a new manager, executive, or somewhere in between, the pressure to always have the answers and the weight of added responsibilities can feel overwhelming. Even if you don’t feel like you’re "at the top," you may experience a sense of isolation that isn’t always easy to express. But here’s the good news—you don’t have to navigate this space alone. A coach or mentor can provide invaluable support, offering a safe space to: Organize and prioritize your responsibilities Reflect on leadership challenges Develop areas of personal and professional growth If you're feeling like there’s no one to turn to, know that seeking guidance from a coach or mentor can make all the difference. I’ve been there, and I can help, or I can advise you with ways to find that mentor who can. Don't hesitate to reach out. How have you managed the transition into leadership? Let’s discuss. #Leadership #NewManagers #Coaching #Mentorship #LeadershipDevelopment #GrowthMindset
