About us
Furkids, headquartered in Atlanta, GA, is a 501c3 nonprofit charitable organization that operates the largest cage-free, no-kill shelter in the Southeast for rescued cats and Sadie’s Place, a no-kill shelter for rescued dogs. The Furkids mission is to rescue homeless animals, and provide them with the best medical care and nurturing environment while working to find them a forever home. Furkids has rescued more than 50,000 animals since its founding in 2002. Approximately 600 animals are in the Furkids program today, in the Furkids shelters, 10 PetSmart and Petco adoption centers, and more than 600 foster homes in the Atlanta area. What better way to celebrate Subaru’s 6th annual #MakeADogsDay than with a good cuddle and some yummy treats? 🐕 The folks from Classic Subaru of Atlanta came by our headquarters to drop off some much needed donations and give our dogs a break from the shelter! Each October, Subaru and their retailers will once again partner with hundreds of local animal shelters and donate $100 for every dog adopted throughout the month. Furkids had a great time this past weekend at the Animal Protection and Wellness Expo, partnering with prominent figures in animal welfare to drive legislative reform, prioritize animal protection, and develop effective intake diversion strategies. Furkids was invited to collaborate with Georgia Veterinary Medical Associates to bring dogs and cats for the Ultrasound Wet Lab and two day seminar. Vets got to practice their ultrasound skills, and our animals received several physical exams and lots of love and attention throughout the day! Our team set up a booth in the event where we had the chance to mingle with industry professionals, and spread the message about the exciting and bright future of Furkids! Thank you for having us!
