In the 1950s and 1960s, YGS—previously known as York Custom Composition and later as York Graphic Services—revolutionized the textbook industry with custom fonts, laying the foundation for everything we do today. Fast forward to the present: our Creative team recently participated in a one-of-a-kind design growth experience. They had the chance to view a private collection of rare European and American graphic design and printing memorabilia, including letterpress-printed type books from the 1920s. Among the most impressive pieces was a stunning 7-color stone lithograph from the late 1880s, printed on high-quality paper with age-defying inks. This experience not only deepened our team’s appreciation for the history of design but also sparked fresh inspiration, reinforcing the power of craftsmanship that continues to influence our work every day!
