Important News! We are excited to announce that earlier today, Fortaleza Materiales entered into an agreement to transition GCHI and its subsidiaries—Giant Cement, Dragon Cement, and Giant Resource Recovery—to Heidelberg Materials. Keystone Cement is not included in this transaction. The final closing is anticipated in the first quarter of 2025, and we are confident that this milestone will contribute significantly to the growth and sustainability goals of both Fortaleza Materiales and Heidelberg Materials. For GCHI, this marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter—building on a legacy of success, quality services, community engagement, and strong partnerships with our customers and stakeholders.

Last week, Tim Rice, our Technical Services Manager, along with Dragon’s Drew Girardi (Director of Sales) and Chris Black (Dragon Territory Manager, Technical Services, spent time in Auburn, ME to collaborate with our valued customer, Auburn Concrete. Together, we conducted several lab trials. The goal was twofold: evaluate our soon to be imported slag in current Auburn Concrete’s mixes for upcoming projects along with testing Maine DOT mixes to gain the necessary DOT approval. At Dragon, we go the extra mile to ensure quality and success for our customers. Proud to work side by side with partners who share our commitment to excellence! #DragonCement #SidebySide

Today, we celebrate National Recycling Day! ♻️ At GCHI, we’re working hard across all our companies to make recycling and sustainability central to our processes. Through our GRR! operations, we recycle and process a vast range of materials, from cardboard to steel, as well as many hazardous and non-hazardous materials that would otherwise end up in landfills. Some materials are recycled, while others are transformed for energy recovery, fueling our kilns and reducing our reliance on fossil fuels. In 2023 alone, we recycled or converted over 300,000 metric tons of industrial waste into alternative fuel for our kilns, with any remaining materials safely integrated into our cement products. Together, our group is committed to building sustainable communities—finding innovative ways to protect our planet, conserve resources, and lead in sustainable practices. Join us in celebrating this day and making a difference, "Lets keep it Beautiful" every day! #LetsKeepitBeautiful #GCHI #Sustainability #EnergyRecovering #AmericaRecyclesDay

We are very proud to be part of this initiative. As pioneers in sustainable practices, our Keystone plant, founded in 1926, became the first cement company to implement an Alternative Fuels program. When incorporated into GCHI in 1984, this innovative fuel technology was quickly extended to our sister company, Giant Cement. Today, we continue to build on this legacy, driving forward our commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainability. #GCHI #Since1883 #CementIndustry #PCAroadmap #CarbonNeutrality #NetZero
