  • In Review: November 2024 November has been a whirlwind month at GB&C. Amidst mince pie taste tests and Spotify Wrapped predictions, we toasted to new openings, attended many a Christmas turkey shoot, and fully embraced the start of silly season with festive dinners and celebrations. A little hectic, very exciting. Read the full rundown of what we’ve been up to via our Substack: https://lnkd.in/d9CdDs6V

  • Travel Guide 01: New York Ask anyone from GB&C where their favourite city is, and nine times out of ten, they’ll say New York. With its dynamic dining scene, endless cultural offerings, and unwavering energy, it’s a city that never stops inspiring us. It also happens to be where we celebrated the second instalment of the St. JOHN x Drake’s collection earlier this year — so it only made sense for our first travel guide to be dedicated to it. Hotels and restaurants have never looked this good. In an era where visuals dominate our lives, the hospitality industry is increasingly shifting its focus from experience to aesthetics. With social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok shaping consumer choices, restaurants and hotels are often designed with one goal in mind: to look perfect online. The result? Many establishments are beginning to lose their distinctiveness, blending into a sea of spaces that prioritize visual appeal over genuine hospitality. But does a beautiful space have to come at the expense of great service? Not necessarily. When done thoughtfully, design can enhance the overall guest experience. It can be a reflection of the establishment’s lens on culture, and with it craft meaningful stories that deepen one's connection to the brand and the destination itself. The challenge for today’s hospitality industry is finding the right balance—creating spaces that not only look good on camera but also deliver the kind of memorable experiences that keep guests coming back. We asked founder of Gemma Bell and Company Gemma BellPerowne International CEO Julia Perowne and Camille Calancha from Agence Mews for their take. Read the full conversation on hurs-official.com

  • In Review: September 2024 September has been a busy month! We’re excited to be working with some new clients: Don’t Tell Dad. Queen’s Park has a brand new neighbourhood bakery opening its doors this December with sweet and savoury pastries and creative dishes by night. The Plimsoll. After all the fun we had launching Tollington’s fish bar earlier this summer, we are so thrilled to be working with Four Legs, which includes everyone’s favourite north London pub, The Plimsoll. Café Deco. Anna Tobias’ instant classic, Café Deco in Bloomsbury, joins our roster of perfect neighbourhood places. A firm favourite across the industry, any visit will leave you feeling relaxed and satiated, knowing you’re in the hands of a capable, caring and joyful team. • In Good Company with Ravneet Gill. This week we had the pleasure of chatting to pastry chef-entrepreneur extraordinaire, Ravneet Gill. If you’ve ever met Rav in person, you’ll be familiar with her awe-inspiring confidence, and her ability to thrive while having her fingers in many pies (pun intended). Rav shared some of her pearls of wisdom with us, and taught us a lesson or two: working hard is cool, silence isn’t awkward and no one is ever nailing everything… Read the full debrief of our conversation via our Substack: https://lnkd.in/d7Ff3ZhA
