Thoroughly enjoyed my panel today at Web Summit Lisbon. A fascinating conversation around the European SpaceTech industry and if we can ever close the gap. There are lots of areas in space that have the possibility of becoming $trillion market opportunities, we don't need to replicate the model of SpaceX, we need to continue to uncover and support companies that are advancing radical changes, creating a new data and connectivity ecosystem that has world changing potential. 📡 Can Europe Build a SpaceX? I'd like to hear your thoughts in the comments... Thanks to the rest of the expert panel: Volodymyr Levykin Christian Mittermaier Martin Coulter & the team at Web Summit for the opportunity 🛰️ #SpaceTech #Investinspace

Investment VP Lewis Alun Jones spotted in TechCrunch discussing the highs and lows of space investing 🛰 🚀 Much of the current investing is shadowed by the SPAC boom in 2021 and the subsequent bust, which saw many of those companies’ valuations dwindle to a fraction of their former value. Lewis Jones said that the SPAC phenomenon was ultimately healthy for the industry, however painful it was for investors at the time: “I think people recognise now that you can’t take space companies public prematurely,” he said. “The acquisitions that have been around the last few quarters haven’t necessarily been desirable outcomes, and we haven’t necessarily seen a pathway to a space company going public properly and winning out on that. So hopefully, that shake-up means people start thinking about it, and there’ll be some good opportunities in the future.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gBMyZMcX
