It’s been a whirlwind last few weeks with conferences and events in Maryland and beyond. Award(s) were won, old colleagues reconnected, and new connections made. A few highlights include: The Maryland Sports Commission being honored with the Sports Events & Tourism Association 2024 Destination Branding & Marketing Campaign of the Year award, at this year’s 4S Summit in Chattanooga, Tennessee. TEAM Maryland partner Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County will host this conference in 2025. Partnering with the 2024 Get in the Game Conference in Baltimore. Maryland Sports Commission & Maryland Stadium Authority hosted the conference attendees - undergrad and graduate students from HBCUs - for the banquet portion of the event, which included and on-field visit to Oriole Park at Camden Yards. TEAM Maryland partner - Visit Baltimore . Attending the 2024 Maryland Tourism Colaition’s Tourism and Travel Summit in Harford County, Maryland - hosted by TEAM Maryland partner Visit Harford. Meeting (and personally welcoming) University of Maryland Baltimore County new Athletics Director Tiffany D. Tucker, M.S. to Retriever Nation!! There are so many people to acknowledge and thank, but I’m afraid I’ll leave someone out… and I do not want to overlook ANYONE!! These experiences are because of all of you - if you had any part of these past couple weeks (and the months that went into planning and executing these successes), please drop a HERE in the comments (or don’t if you’d rather not be recognized, that’s fine too). But please don’t be shy…. (**The significance of HERE goes along with Baltimore Orioles lore/ fandom… the old Memorial Stadium… and one of the Birds most famous players. Bonus points if you get the reference, you can drop that in the comments as well!!***).

What a fantastic weekend at the Get in the Game Conference! Proud of this Golf Galaxy team for going above and beyond to grow the game and further our continued efforts for inclusivity. It was truly an honor to attend the Get in the Game Conference this weekend with Zach May and Rich Jones, MS, PGA, a sports business conference and career expo dedicated to HBCU students and college students of color. Golf Galaxy hosted a panel discussion titled, "Changing The Course - Golf's Push For Inclusivity," where Rich Jones, MS, PGA and other industry leaders led a discussion around the continued push to make this incredible game accessible to everyone, and to share some of the different career opportunities that exist in the industry. This was followed by a very open and candid Q&A session, answering questions from aspiring students from HBCU's across the country. We followed that up with an exciting activation on Sunday morning, including a closest to the pin contest using Trackman technology. Our vendor partners from Acushnet Company also joined us for the activation, where students were not only able to have fun, but connect with industry leaders and ask questions on how they can get involved in this timeless game. This weekend was a great reminder of the power of sports and how much the game of golf can bring people together, both on and off the course. It is imperative for the future of this game that EVERY person, community, and belief has a voice. To all of the students we connected with this weekend, you inspire me. A special thank you to Andrea Lattimore, Jasmin Cunningham, PGA, Yussuf Khan, Mallory Zikeli and the entire DSG campus recruiting team, SBRnet, Sam Puryear, and everyone that helped make this event special. #dsglife #golfgalaxy

This past weekend, I had the pleasure to attend the second annual Get in the Game conference in Baltimore, Maryland. This was a great experience and an overall great weekend. I got the opportunity to meet so many great people such as, Phil Le, Brian Morrison, MPS, Miranda Mishleau Parisa K., Emily Nee Rich Jones, MS, PGA, Kristin Rutter, Lauren Ware, Aisha M. Quinones, Denise Katz, Adriana C. & Andrea Lattimore. Through meeting all of these wonderful individuals, I was able to gain so much knowledge about their respective industries and companies. I was also able to learn about many different internships, and full-time career opportunities. None of this would’ve been possible without the amazing people at get in the game. I would like to thank them for hosting such a wonderful event this weekend and I am so thankful that I was able to be a part of it.

Another Get in the Game conference in the books! I am very proud of those who attended the event. You all represented with style and grace and certainly created opportunities for yourselves. The feedback from employers about your ability to “show up” was immense. Now, let’s crush those interviews and take your place in the roles and organizations!

This past weekend, from November 8-10th, I had the opportunity to attend the Get in the Game sports conference in my hometown of Baltimore, Maryland. This experience was completely enriching and empowering for HBCU students like myself looking to break into the sports and entertainment industry. On friday, I had the pleasure to visit the headquarters of a brand i’m all to familiar with,Under Armour, on behalf of Jeffrey Oguamanam. This tour was exciting and informative as I had the opportunity to speed network with some of Under Armour established professionals within the company. The rest of the weekend included career panels, expos, networking sessions, Baltimore Orioles stadium tour, and an opening for me to curate long term connections with others who share my similar passions. Thank you to Neil Schwartz and Yussuf Khan for your groundwork and involvement in this motivating event. I would also like to thank my professor, Jason Perry for guiding me to participate in this unique experience i’ll never forget! #Blackwomeninsports #GITG #Sports #HBCUstudent
