Did you know that 3.75 million #carsharing trips were done in Spain last year 🚀🚘? We’re not kidding, the carsharing market in Spain is growing fast! With 48 million inhabitants and 225 million foreign overnight stays in 2023, is a country with so much to offer for both visitors and residents. And the car rental #business is thriving with 650K cars generating €1.76B per year, showcasing a very dynamic #transportation ecosystem. 👉 Investing and supporting a key market like Spain, which already has an established carsharing culture and a fast growth potential, felt essential to us. 🇪🇸 🇺🇸Which is why we participated in the 2024 U.S. & Spain Council Forum in Santa Fe this past week. Our CEO Eduardo Iniguez & Director of Public Policy Soledad Roybal attended and met some influential figures who provided some great insights on how to navigate the policy landscape and market challenges in Spain. 🎙We had inspiring conversations with companies focused on more durable transitions, such as FedEx, Iberdrola, Repsol, CITY OF MADRID, Barcelona and ACCIONA. Can car sharing be key to developing greener and more attractive cities? Spoiler alert! 100% yes. A topic that the Bymiljøetaten i Bergen municipality in 🇳🇴 has been taking into serious consideration. 🚗 🌿 As many studies have shown, car sharing helps free up considerable parking space, for greener areas, playgrounds or bike lanes, reduces traffic and promotes more environmentally friendly transport choices. 🗣 Which is why meeting up with public administration, property developers and mobility providers last week in Bergen felt like an important discussion we wanted to take part of (thanks Thea Martine Samer for speaking!) 👉 Our key takeaways? ✔ Car sharing can be a key tool when designing and developing urban development projects ✔️ Car sharing can become the norm with support from public regulations and promotional measures (parking permits, purchase of service mobility…) ✔️ Car sharing can also become a solution for businesses and work related trips (something we’re all over with our Getaround for Work program 😉) As a car sharing operator, we were able to take part in different panels of conversations about our experience in developing various public partnerships across Norway to promote car sharing and help create more durable cities. 🙏 Bymiljøetaten i Bergen municipality for the organisation and to all actors there for the talks Frydenbø Eiendom AS Dele Nivel It's tomorrow ADVIER Norconsult Autodelen.net AtB AS

Guess who’s back? Back again…😉 That’s right folks, our Summer Guarantee Program is back for it’s second edition! 🤔 What’s this program about? For the second year in a row, we're guaranteeing owners across France and Spain (first time for Norway!), a certain amount of #revenue from June 1st to August 31st if they rent out their car. If they earn less, we will refund the difference. It's that simple. 🔎 Why are we doing this?  To make sure that in very touristy areas this summer people can easily rent out a car for their travels but also providing owners of cars that won’t be used, the opportunity to make some money. Does carsharing really have an impact? 🚘 We get this question quite often: how can we claim to be driven by #sustainability when we promote the use of cars? Well, we're promoting the use of shared cars instead of individual cars. 🤔 Why is that relevant you might ask? Because most of our cities are overcrowded and overburdened by cars, that remain parked 95% of the time. And unused cars take up precious urban space that could be used for pedestrian lanes, parks, or playgrounds. So, what’s the impact of #carsharing then? According to the latest ADEME study: 👉 1 shared car can replace up to 8 cars 👉 1 shared car can free up to 3 parking spots 👉 Carsharing users tend to to rely on more sustainable transportation options: biking (+22%), public transports (18%) & train (+29%) 🌎 For Earth Day, we wanted to imagine how our cities would look like if cars didn’t dominate them. Carsharing is a popular club to be in these days 😎 ✌️ We’re thrilled to announce that we have partnered up with the San José Mineta International Airport (SJC) to offer a #carsharing option for #travelers coming to visit the Capital of Silicon Valley. ✈️ Straight off the plane, visitors can continue their journey by accessing our peer-to-peer car #rental platform in designated airport zones. 🤝 This is not only an efficient and sustainable transportation alternative for travelers, but it also provides an opportunity for local community members to earn additional income from sharing their vehicles. 🧐 What would you say are the most exciting #sustainable #transport solutions in the world today? 🎙Our EU GM Even Tangen Heggernes will be tackling this huge question as part of a panel on the main stage at ChangeNOW tomorrow Tuesday 26 March. 🎤 With industry colleagues Ananta Vangmai from ReviveBattery B.V, Ion Leahu-Aluas from DRIVECO, Evrim Taskiran from Cyclecure & Valère Pelletier General Director from RATP Solutions Ville they will be sharing ideas on ‘How to foster sustainable mobility’. 🌃 With more than half the global population (55% according to the UN) living in urban areas 👉 finding sustainable transport solutions that work for the long term is more urgent than ever. We believe #carsharing is one alternative (among many!) that has massive potential to help reduce carbon emissions and mitigate overcrowding in cities, as well as underserved regions.
