Last week, GIFCT’s Executive Director, Naureen Chowdhury Fink, joined an incredible group of experts and diplomats at the United Nations to discuss gaming and violent extremism. GIFCT has been deeply engaged in this space through initiatives like our Gaming Community of Practice, membership in the Extremism & Gaming Research Network, and insights from our academic arm, Global Network on Extremism & Technology (GNET). These efforts ensure our member companies and stakeholders have access to cutting-edge research and expertise on these rapidly evolving challenges. Great to be able to highlight our work at Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism (GIFCT) and insights gleaned from working with over thirty tech company members!

Counter Currents is our new podcast series focused on the exploitation of the internet by extremists - and the efforts to fight back. With the help of expert guests, we review the online aspects of the Christchurch Masjidain attack, delve into the dynamics of extremism and look at the progress made since that tragic day. It features interviews with people involved in the internet response to the trauma unfolding on March 15 2019 and experts focused on ensuring this never happens again. We’re grateful to Paul Ash, David Shanks, Dr Erin Saltman, Naureen Chowdhury Fink, Brendan Horsley, and Dr Angus Lindsay for giving their time to speak to us on such an important topic.
