Amazing news from Niger! 3 new male giraffe recently showed up in Gadabedji Biosphere Reserve. It appears that they travelled almost 500km from the Tahoua area. That is quite a journey for a giraffe. They seemed in good spirits & health when they joined up with the resident giraffe. Together with our partners, GCF established a new population of West African giraffe in Niger in Gadabedji BR in 2018. It is fascinating to see these movements and we ask ourselves, how did they know where to find other giraffe?!

Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words ... When there is simply nowhere to go, we need to act! Giraffe and other wildlife in the Greater Masai Mara Ecosystem in Kenya need urgent help as fences continue to restrict their movements. Working with partners such as the Smithsonian National Zoo, WRTI and KWS, we try to gain a better understanding of how fences affect the movement of giraffe across landscapes with an increasing human population. But this is only the first step ... Kenya Wildlife Service KWS Wildlife Research and Training Institute Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art 📷 Rebekah Karimi

The Khomas Environmental Education Programme (KEEP) is one of Namibia’s largest environmental education programmes. Since January 2024, nearly 3,000 students and their teachers have participated in KEEP with many schools making this trip their priority every year. The recurring participation demonstrates our impact and value for students and teachers, while new groups indicate that our message is reaching a broader audience, enhancing environmental awareness in Namibia. Our goal is to bring as many young Namibians as possible closer to nature, generating a passion and commitment to positively impacting the environment now and in the future.
