  • 🟠 Recently, together with Ministry of Justice, we organized two sessions as part of the "16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence" campaign. In collaboration with Down Syndrome Kosova, we focused on the mental health challenges faced by individuals with disabilities, particularly those with Down syndrome, and the impact of gender-based violence. The session was a significant step towards raising awareness and ensuring access to justice and services for marginalized communities. The second discussion was held with students of the Faculty of Economics, University of Prishtina about the mental health impacts of gender-based violence. This session aimed to inspire a more inclusive and informed approach to advocacy, equipping the younger generation with the tools to drive positive social change.

  • 📢 Germany commits 3 million EUR for the economic empowerment of women in economically disadvantaged communities 🇩🇪 🇽🇰 Germany and Kosovo are advancing their cooperation to create better opportunities for women, with a particular focus on those from underrepresented and economically disadvantaged communities. With women’s formal employment in Kosovo at just 19% and a significant gender gap (18.4% for women vs. 49.4% for men in 2022), the new funds target at boosting employability and supporting women-led businesses, with a focus on the integration of marginalized women in areas with lower levels of economic development into the labor force. Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) recently committed 3 million EUR to Kosovo for these activities. This commitment adds up to another commitment of 1.3 million EUR made by BMZ in April this year. 🫱🏽🫲🏽The partners in this cooperation include the Ministry of Communities and Return (MCR) and the Ministry of Regional Development (MRD). Implementation is planned over the next three years and will be carried out by Germany’s agency for international cooperation/Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
