#NoExcuse. UNiTE to End Violence against Women One in three women worldwide experience gender-based violence during their lifetime. In times of crisis or conflicts, the risk of gender-based violence for women, girls, men, and boys rises even higher. At Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, we proudly support the #16Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. We, at GIZ, have zero tolerance for violence inside our organization, in the video Country Director GIZ Lebanon Matthias Wagner provides a brief of some of our measures that contribute to prevent and eliminate violence in Lebanon. Together, we can make a difference—because everyone deserves a life of dignity and safety. #NoExcuse #16Days #GlobalGoals UN Women Our measures are commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)

During crises, it is crucial to support communities, institutions, and governments by addressing immediate needs while also continuing measures with long-term impact. It remains essential to build local authorities' and communities' capacities and confidence to continue their work effectively and take full ownership of sustainable initiatives for Lebanon. GIZ has expanded its initiatives—commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)—to support a large number of displaced persons in Lebanon. This effort significantly contributes to addressing urgent needs. However, we also continue to support the population of Lebanon through ongoing medium- and long-term development measures. Our podcast, #CountToTen, #عد_للعشرة provides testimonies from Lebanon, shedding light on stories of hope, resilience, and change. We invite you to listen to these stories filmed before the outbreak of the conflict. https://bit.ly/Count2Ten https://bit.ly/NHCount2Ten

Today, as part of her visit to Lebanon, German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Svenja Schulze visited 'Matbakh El Kell' community kitchen. She was accompanied by Matthias Wagner, Country Director GIZ Lebanon, Christine Codsi, Co-founder Traditions and People, and representatives from the German Embassy in Beirut. GIZ, in close coordination with the German Embassy in Beirut and Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), has expanded its initiatives to support a large number of internally displaced persons. While continuing our support for the population through ongoing medium- and long-term development projects, these efforts make a significant contribution to addressing urgent needs. Currently, with 'Matbakh El Kell' we are facilitating the distribution of approximately 1,500 hot meals each day. Our existing support to community kitchens through our cash for work project has allowed us to respond quickly to urgent needs. Until today, through our overall Cash for Work project, we have provided over 130,000 meals to those in need in Beirut and North Lebanon.
