This year we celebrated 15 years of supporting emerging health leaders who are locally rooted and globally connected, from the US to East and Southern Africa. GHC leaders are a force for change that transcends borders, breaks barriers, and redefines what’s possible. We’re so proud of how our community stepped up to transform #healthsystems in 2024. We’re honored to be able to recruit, place, nurture, and connect them for greater impact. And we’re ready and eager to reach more young health changemakers in 2025! For inspiring stories of the power of equity-driven leaders working together, check out our 2024 Annual Report: https://lnkd.in/eQV3xcdw

Mobilizing the next generation of #HealthEquity leaders 🌍
About us
Global Health Corps (GHC) is a leadership accelerator focused on building the next generation of global health leaders and mobilizing the movement for health equity worldwide. We are a diverse, global community united in the belief that health is a human right. We competitively recruit, select, and develop innovative, and talented emerging leaders with a diversity of skill sets and backgrounds, and place them in year-long paid fellowships in Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, the United States, and Zambia. Our fellows advance health equity across 60 + organizations -- including community-based and international non-profits as well as government ministries -- across a range of health issue areas. Throughout their fellowship year and into their careers, we provide continuous l professional training, community building, leadership development, and career mentorship to amplify the impact of our ever-growing network of young leaders. Since 2009, GHC has supported almost 1000 to transform health systems and raise their voices for social change. Our community gets stronger every year. Despite comprising 50% of the population, women leaders in #GlobalHealth are still underrepresented. #GenderEquity has been a pillar of our approach to leadership since our founding. We're proud to have cultivated a community of over 1,200 equity-oriented leaders, of which 58% are women. In 2024, these leaders have gone on to shift policy, enact progress, and advance #HealthEquity on local and global levels. Learn more about their accomplishments in our 2024 Annual Report: https://lnkd.in/eQV3xcdw And in these last few days of the year, consider supporting rising women leaders in #GlobalHealth by making a gift: https://lnkd.in/eeyU66yj

Wondering what's next for orgs - like us - that have been fortunate to receive big bet, unrestricted gifts from #MackenzieScott and others? As the just launched #FundWhatWorks report highlights, "True systems change takes time and requires sustained investment" and these gifts were "a downpayment towards a long-term solution." The call to action? "To fully realize their bold impact goals, these organizations still need to raise 75-90% of their overall funding needs. This funding gap presents an opportunity for philanthropists to have an outsized impact with their follow-on funding." Thanks, Gabrielle Fitzgerald and Panorama Global, for all your work on this.
Over the past three years, Panorama's Collaborative Learning for Impact Philanthropy initiative has analyzed the impacts of large, unrestricted gifts on nonprofit organizations. Within a year of receiving the gift, these high-impact organizations working on systems change are at peak strength and ready to act boldly to achieve their missions. It’s inspiring to see how these high-impact organizations, once given the resources, are ready to tackle complex challenges and make a lasting difference. But meaningful change doesn’t happen overnight—it takes sustained investment. Continued donor support for these highly vetted, proven organizations can amplify the effects of those initial gifts and pave the way for even greater impact. Today I’m sharing two things: Our summary of what we learned, “Funding What Works: High-Impact Organizations Trusted by Leading Philanthropists”, plus a list of more than 50 of those high-impact organizations. I hope these new resources will be useful for donors eager to make a meaningful, outsized impact with their follow-on funding. Almost a week out from the U.S. Presidential election being called and we're still *processing*. We're digesting the news with our team, with a focus on taking care of ourselves and understanding how best to prepare for the road ahead. Who leads and how they lead matters. No doubt all who care about justice and equity will face sobering challenges in the days to come. One thing we know: We're as committed as ever to nurturing a diverse network of bold, visionary leaders who both speak truth to power and work across lines of difference to protect health as a human right for all. We will keep centering those most impacted by inequities in our corners of the world. We also know that progress is rarely linear, and setbacks do not have to be permanent. The most powerful thing we can do is not just to stand in opposition to injustice—it's to keep imagining and actively creating a brighter future, together.

Our team is growing! Please join us in giving a warm welcome to our newest team members Tiffany, Gina, and Erin 🌟 ✨Tiffany H., our Director of Finance & Operations, leverages her finance and ops skills to advance gender and health equity––and she’s a HUGE NFL fan 🏈 ✨Gina Rogers, MSW is joining as our Development Coordinator. When she isn’t whizzing through Salesforce and raising funds, she’s spending time outdoors, with her cats, or gaming 🎮 ✨Erin Gilbert joins us as our Grants Manager, bringing a sharp pen and gift for storytelling. Fun fact: when she’s not in her homebase of Atlanta, USA, you can find her cat sitting overseas to fuel her wanderlust (and love for cats!) 🐈⬛ They each bring a wealth of knowledge and unique experience to our work of supporting emerging health leaders. Welcome to the GHC community, ladies!
