LGBTI communities around the world are still reeling from the recent seismic shifts in the funding landscape. GPP estimates that at least US$105M, more than one in every four dollars in LGBTI funding in the Global South and East, is being cut by the U.S. and Netherlands governments alone. This comes on top of major pivots from long-standing LGBTI philanthropic donors. How are funders meeting this funding crisis? In this webinar, GPP and trusted partners will share recommendations for how to support grantees in the short-term while laying the foundation for an alternative, long-term, sustainable funding ecosystem. We will also hear directly from funders about the evidence and considerations guiding their deliberations at this critical moment. https://lnkd.in/evfqVRuV

About us
Global Philanthropy Project (GPP) is a collaboration of funders and philanthropic advisors working to expand global philanthropic support to advance the human rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI) people in the Global South and East. Established in 2009, GPP’s 23 member organizations include many of the leading global funders and philanthropic advisors for LGBTI rights. As the first international cohort of LGBTI funders, GPP is internationally recognized as the primary thought leader and go-to partner for donor coordination around global LGBTI work. As government cuts and funding freezes threaten LGBTI organizations worldwide, champions of inclusive democracy are stepping up to defend and resource their work. We’re thrilled to announce that Dreilinden gGmbH has pledged €1M in new funding to the #FundOurFutures campaign. This latest commitment builds on the €10M already pledged by Dreilinden in 2024, reaffirming their unwavering dedication to a more just world. "We reached out to our grantee partners and learned from the field where the most pressing needs are," said founder Ise Bosch. "We are now pledging and distributing funds to grantee partners working with communities most in need —intersex and trans groups, and organizations in Central and Eastern Europe, South Caucasus, and Central Asia." At a time when funding for equality faces unprecedented threats, every pledge ensures LGBTI organizations can continue their life-saving work. Now, more than ever, solidarity and action matter. 💡 Learn how you can join the movement at: fundourfutures.org

Funding for global LGBTI movements is being cut, frozen, and squeezed. Global Philanthropy Project estimates that at least $105 million, more than one in every four dollars in LGBTI funding in the Global South and East, is at risk given anticipated cuts by the U.S. and Dutch governments. Those who champion human rights, equality, and inclusive democracy need our support. The #FundOurFutures campaign is working to raise $150 million in pledged new funding by June 2025. LGBTI movements are on the frontlines of work to end the HIV epidemic and we must resource them accordingly. FCAA is a proud Fund Our Futures campaign partner, working closely with Global Philanthropy Project to secure new funding commitments at the intersection of protecting LGBTI rights and ending the HIV epidemic. To date, five FCAA members have made commitments to the Fund Our Futures campaign, pledging a total of $9.3M in new funding for LGBTQ movements. We encourage you to join the 28 grantmakers who have pledged so far by learning more about the campaign and making your own commitment to LGBTI communities impacted by the recent actions of the U.S. Administration.
🚨ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨 GPP’s Fund Our Futures Campaign is entering a second phase to catalyze US$150M in funding for global LGBTI movements. https://lnkd.in/eFsTCGsC LGBTI movements are under intense pressure from draconian funding cuts and rising hostility from global leaders. The U.S. administration's foreign aid freeze is depriving millions of people of services they rely upon for survival while eliminating the institutions, initiatives, and expertise that LGBTI movements have steadily built for decades. Compounding the crisis, The Netherlands plans major cuts to funding for civil society over the next five years. GPP estimates that at least US$105M, more than one in every four dollars in LGBTI funding in the Global South and East, is being cut by these two governments alone. In 2024, GPP initiated the Fund Our Futures Campaign to meet this exact moment. At the first-ever Global LGBTI Funding Summit, we secured US$100M in pledges from 28 leading foundations, corporate funders, and donor governments. The funding cuts we predicted are here, and far worse than imagined. In response to this crisis, we call on our community to raise another US$50M for global LGBTI movements by June. Global LGBTI movements have never needed our support more and we urge philanthropy and donor governments to fund in solidarity. Today marks an incredible milestone – Matthew Hart's Tenth Anniversary as Executive Director of GPP! 👏 When he joined ten years ago, Matty had a strong vision of what GPP could become. Today GPP is internationally recognized as an engine of resource mobilization and philanthropic coordination – driving critical resources to the global LGBTI movement. Through donor conferences, cutting-edge research, and resource tracking, GPP has created the conditions for catalytic shifts in global LGBTI funding. Matty and the team have shaped GPP to build the systems and structures for funders to collaborate and respond at scale. GPP has cultivated, strengthened, and expanded our LGBTI funding communities. Most recently, the Fund Our Futures campaign generated $100m in new funding for the field (with a goal of $50m more!), setting us all up to be better prepared in these times of multiple and intersecting crises. We are so proud that GPP has more than doubled the documented funding focused on global LGBTI communities in the past ten years. Matty, thank you for your commitment, your vision, and your leadership. Join us and take a moment to celebrate Matty by sharing our recognition and well wishes 🎉 👇 by Alli Jernow (Arcus Foundation) and Francisco O. Buchting (Horizons Foundation)

GPP is launching a new Trans-Inclusive Grantmaking Training: Mobilizing for Trans Futures. In recent weeks, we've seen an escalation of efforts to deny trans people’s existence and undermine trans human rights. We know that anti-trans messaging and policies are being cynically used as a wedge by right-wing “anti-gender” forces (and by trans-exclusionary forces within progressive causes). At the same time, organizations and movements led by and for trans and gender non-conforming communities around the world are mobilizing to defend and expand trans human rights and broader movements for gender justice and beyond. People working in philanthropy are in a unique position to improve strategies for global trans funding, mobilize more and better resources, and serve as a bulwark against anti-trans agendas. The Mobilizing for Trans Futures training provides a unique opportunity for peer education and open dialogue among funders to explore key questions, discuss challenges, and receive expert guidance on providing intersectional support to trans communities across regions and issue areas. https://lnkd.in/eRe95dmt
