When Tim Walz burst on the scene as Kamala’s running mate, he quipped: ·     crime was up under Trump and “that’s not counting the crimes he committed” ·     he can’t wait to debate JD Vance—assuming he’s “willing to get off the couch and show up” Damn! These are zingers worthy of late nite. Now, Kamala’s laffin’ her way to November, the map is turning blue, and “Weird” Donald Trump has no freakin’ idea how to respond. It’s a new day in American politics—lighthearted, joyful, and successful… and such a contrast from the grim alternative. As Ryan Coogan in The Independent tells it: A former teacher, Walz understands that the best way to get people to pay attention is to make them laugh. There’s a way to do it – there’s a fine line between being funny and not taking things seriously – but if you nail it then it can really get people on-side. Last year we decided to stop sitting on the sidelines and start making political spots. So rewarding! In fact last Thursday at Washington's Spy Museum, I was thrilled to receive a "Pollie" (a political Emmy, a national award from the American Association of Political Consultants) for one of these spots--in the humor category. Titled "Virginia Equals Florida", and starring awesome Virginia Delegate candidate Stephen Miller-Pitts, Jr., MPA, it works through some scary electoral math on an animated chalkboard. Enjoy!
