As we reflect on our 2024 achievements and set our 2025 goals, I want to share my appreciation for our staff, donors, hiring partners, my fellow board members, and our junior committee who have made our work at #GraceInstitute possible! As Grace Institute’s Board Chair, I have seen up close how our free training and job placement programs enable women to move forward with their lives, gaining new skills, confidence, and economic independence. In 2024, 310 women participated in our core training programs, with hundreds more served through alumnae support and upskilling programs - a remarkable 47% increase from the previous year.   As we expand to serve more women, we continue to achieve remarkable outcomes. Our programs have an 80% graduation rate, a 75% job placement rate, and average starting salaries of more than $41,000 with benefits - a life-changing increase from an average annual salary of $7,100 pre-participation In addition to increased participation, 2024 saw the completion of an ambitious five-year strategic plan with an employer-centric approach to hiring, the creation of a new flexible, specialized training curriculum, and the ongoing implementation of comprehensive wraparound support for the women we serve. I am so proud of our remarkable outcomes, and look forward to engaging with stakeholders, and further improving outcomes as we roll out our strategic plan in 2025.   We look forward to celebrating International Women’s Day with you on March 13th – details to follow.   In the meantime, if you’re interested in exploring partnership opportunities (volunteer, hiring, speaking, etc) please reach out to us! Danae Mcleod dmcleod@graceinstitute.org or Leah Cooper lcooper@graceinstitute.org Wishing everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year!

There’s nothing more powerful than hearing firsthand about the life-changing impact of Grace Institute! That’s why we’re excited to share Denyse Sims-Blanding’s graduation speech from our Winter 2024 graduation. Her journey is one of courage, resilience, and transformation, and we know her words will leave you as inspired as they’ve left us. Good afternoon faculty, friends, family, and Graduates. WE DID IT!! I am so happy and proud of everyone here for sticking through till this day. I would like to start by giving some insight into my journey to Grace Institute. I found Grace through a job plus weekly email list which I had signed up for years ago and ignored for the most part. But something drew me to this program; call it fate. Before Grace, I was struggling for 2 years or so after being laid off from my first job. That was just the start of it. I continued a downward spiral, and more disaster struck. The passing of my father, loss of my first apartment, and worst of all almost losing the love of my life. I truly felt my world was shattering around me. So, to get out of the depression I had succumbed to, I took a leap of faith and applied to Grace Institute. I was nervous through the entire application process, questioning what if I don't get in? What if I can't finish the program? When I got to my interview with Tiara from Recruitment and Retention, all those doubts subsided. She was patient and welcoming. But most importantly because of my zoom profile picture, we discovered our shared love for Minnie Mouse. Then I knew there was nothing to question anymore, and I would just need to push myself to see this graduation day. As classes started with Ms. Perkins and Ms. Kerr, I was trying but it was difficult. I did not see my vision of perfection with my participation at Grace - I had become too hard on myself and added more stress to the situation. There was a point in the 10 weeks where I didn't think I could continue. But then there were those Wednesdays at A Moment at Grace, the sessions that I attended with Ms. Carolyn and all of you from OA and HA. Listening to you all, and sharing when I was confident enough, motivated me more than I can express. So much so that I had the courage to apply and continue to the Leadership and Management program, which was challenging but equally as rewarding. Overall, my Grace experience with all of you has helped me immensely. I found my voice, new skills, and a community that is so welcoming and understanding. After Grace Institute begins my journey into healthcare. The end goal is to find a career that I will enjoy and to be a Doctor. I will keep in touch. Finally, I will leave you all with this. You can be your worst critic, but you are your greatest motivator just find the right support around you to clear the clouds and see the bright future that we all have ahead of us. Thank you all so much and congratulations.
