Cleveland's commercial real estate market is experiencing significant growth, with the city recording a whopping $2.3 billion in new construction permits for 2024, more than double the $1 billion logged in 2023. Construction activity spans both large-scale projects and residential projects in Downtown, Ohio City, and University Circle. The museum's ArtLens Gallery merges technology with the CMA's collection to create immersive experiences, while its Open Access initiative makes 98.5% of its collection available online. New AI tools, including the website feature AI Toolset: Extend the View, empower visitors to learn and create with the museum’s art. The next phase of ArtLens, set to debut in April 2026, will explore the life stories of objects—covering provenance, conservation, and even methods for identifying forgeries. More than 400 college students representing 50 colleges and 11 countries registered for the Cleveland Talent Alliance's Winter Career Expo at the CrossCountry Mortage HQ last week. Attendees had the opportunity to engage with a diverse range of employers from 65 registered companies, brush up on their interview and networking skills in unique professional development breakouts, and even get a free, professional headshot. This year, GE Lighting’s iconic holiday light show in Nela Park marks its centennial anniversary, lighting up the season with over a million bulbs. The tradition began in 1924, and each year, visitors come from all over to see the spectacular displays, including a new highlight for 2024: a coal tower transformed into a giant candle, complete with color-changing smart lights synced to music. The Cleveland-made Amplio wearable microscope, developed by Unify Medical with groundbreaking technology from the University of Akron, has earned a spot on Time magazine’s Best Inventions of 2024. This lightweight, wireless device offers 8X magnification and 3D imaging, replacing bulky, costly surgical microscopes.
