  • Some more fun with local communities at our Community Hub pilot this weekend!

Community outreach & engagement, leaning into festive fun for a Greener & Cleaner Christmas!? There will be a lucky dip and bottle tombola, preloved Gifts and cupcakes, but also upcycling crafts & Furoshiki workshops and an Energy Pop Quizz with prizes - fun and games! Last year we had almost 2k visitors over 2 days, wish us luck! Do join us if you're free :D Wouldn't it be great to have a network where grass roots community sustainability groups and charities like ours - but from any geography, funding model or place based sustainability engagement model - could swap learnings, collaborate and boost each other's efforts? Cross Pollinate. One to work towards for 2025! #strongertogether #climateaction #intersectionality #normalising #communitysustainability #communityhub

  • What a night! Enormously grateful to all the amazing people who gave their time to create an extra special evening to support our charity tonight!

  • Some great updates from our founder.....!

X4 Happy Updates..... 1) Super excited that City Bridge Trust have chosen to help fund Greener & Cleaner 's Community Hub work (2 min Hub video from our successful Summer Crowdfunder here: https://lnkd.in/eAjCKenZ )! 2) Was delighted to speak on an Expert Panel for the The British Academy 's 'Adventures in Interdisciplinary' conference, organised by the wonderful Paula Back. Artists created some brilliant Visual Minutes (live), where you can find the days discussions. Most of my contributions focused on: 1) intersectionality; and 2) respectful collaborations between academics and real world pilots; for solving real world problems. Visual minutes link: https://lnkd.in/eP7hqVKe 3) Happy to have been booked as a Keynote Speaker for the Sustainability Day of a major financial institution. Delivered a "Go Green, Save Money" interactive presentation, to a highly responsive audience, both in the room and remotely. Empowering staff to actively engage with personal sustainability not only helps their personal development, cost of living and wellbeing but also helps businesses hit their sustainability targets as they become an opportunity rather than 'yet another change / burden' to staff. I help deliver and facilitate sustainability / wellbeing related talks, lunch & learns, and Team Building / Away Days for our charity Greener & Cleaner. These corporate services help fund our community and model building work. Clients include BUPA, John Lewis, ITV, Edentree, BoA, Globe theater and others. 4) Finally grateful for and humbled by my nomination as "Local Hero 2024" for the Above & Beyond Awards, relating to my focus on community sustainability engagement delivery and model building - parts of which are very much funded by our Corporate Offering above!! But let's face it, I wouldn't have achieved anything alone. The passion and commitment of my team mates (staff, contractors and volunteers) at the Greener & Cleaner charity, have made our impact and growth possible! Not to mention the unwavering support of the most amazing husband I could wish for, Tom Danvers x

  • Our founder Parisa Wright is speaking at this event around the value of interdisciplinary thinking, to help improve the quality and impact of UK research and policy work... her focus will be on our collaborative reserach, testing and model building which recognises key socioeconomic, health and environmental intersectionality and engages a wider range of people with climate and sustainability.

Back from the summer break and looking forward to speaking at this sold out event from the 'The British Academy ECRN Interdisciplinary ThinkIn Group' on Friday, alongside a wonderful range of incredible researchers and policy experts: "Many contemporary problems, such as climate change, public health, and social inequality, are complex and multifaceted. Interdisciplinary research brings together insights and methods from different disciplines to develop more comprehensive solutions that a single-discipline approach might not be able to address. As such, learning to work across different disciplines is a vital skill in our modern society. This in person event, held at the British Academy in London aims to break down three main questions that surround interdisciplinary work to inform and inspire ECRs: Exploring the challenges of bringing in different perspectives and methodologies into different disciplines, and how to these perspectives offer a depth of thought. The dissemination of interdisciplinary research- in what ways and where can interdisciplinary research be published/communicated? How can interdisciplinary research speak to disciplinary bound audiences and how can the potential for this be realised? What is this potential?" https://lnkd.in/erj3rzs7 #research #joinedupthinking #policy #interdisciplinary #realworld #solutions #netzero #breakingdownsilos

  • A great start to the week yesterday when we spent a day at the Deloitte head office! Two teams there gave our SLT Parisa Wright and Clare Searle a day of pro bono strategy support with two briefs. Some great insights, advice and proposals shared! Very useful for a smaller and impact focused charity like ours. Huge thanks to them! And also huge thanks to the fantastic Pilotlight team who partnered us up so seemlessly!

  • As our Founder Parisa Wright puts it, we are grateful and proud to help drive this key work, around a just transition, forward:

At Greener & Cleaner we are grateful and proud to have partnered with NPC (New Philanthropy Capital) and 32 other charities to publish joint recommendations to the next government on how to make environmental policies fairer rather than water them down. It is so important that all groups and demographics are considered when policies are enacted, that they are inclusive and fair. It is also essential that the disproportionately high ongoing cost of living and health impacts of 'business as usual' around climate change and high carbon living on marginalised and vulnerable groups are acknowledged and actually addressed. Grateful to NPC for bringing us together to move this issue forward with clear, fair and practical recommendations. https://lnkd.in/ew8mUW4Z Huge thanks to Liz Gadd and team!
