About us
Greenville Federal Credit Union is a federally chartered credit union located in Greenville, South Carolina with $470+ million in assets, over 34,000 members, six branch locations and 100 employees. All member accounts are insured up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the federal government. The credit union was founded by nine employees from the School District of Greenville County as an educator’s credit union in 1968. In 2001, the credit union approved a conversion to a community-based charter to serve anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Greenville County. As a not-for-profit alternative to traditional banking, Greenville Federal Credit Union members enjoy more money-saving advantages, including higher returns on deposits, lower loan rates, and fewer fees overall. The credit union offers traditional consumer deposit and loan services as well as free financial counseling and other wellness benefits. The credit union also offers commercial deposit and loan services and business support resources. As a priority, the credit union serves members by utilizing the latest in digital banking and financial technology including online and mobile banking, bill pay, and mobile deposit, and security features including two-factor authentication, biometric authentication, 24/7 fraud monitoring, and automated account security. Since its inception Greenville Federal Credit Union has placed a strong emphasis on supporting local children and educators through community outreach initiatives. Credit union members and employees actively volunteer time and resources with many local organizations. Whether sponsoring programs for Greenville County Schools that impact teachers and students or raising money for the Prisma Health System Children’s Hospital, the credit union is committed to providing local support to the people who need it.
