𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗺𝘀, 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁. The manufacturing boom in Tamil Nadu is a powerful example of how pro-growth policies can transform an economy. In Tamil Nadu, the government has taken steps to remove barriers for firms, resulting in a surge of high-impact investments and hundreds of thousands of formal sector jobs. Here are some impressive examples: 📱 𝗧𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰𝘀 is set to hire more than 20,000 people at its iPhone assembly plant, bringing the total to 40,000 employees. 📱 𝗙𝗼𝘅𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻, the world’s largest contract electronics manufacturer, employs up to 45,000 people at its Tamil Nadu facility during peak periods. 🚗 𝗩𝗶𝗻𝗙𝗮𝘀𝘁, the Vietnamese EV manufacturer, aims to create 10,000 jobs at its new facility. 🚙 𝗧𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 and subsidiary 𝗝𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗿 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 are opening a new vehicle manufacturing plant, expected to create 5,000 jobs. These key firms in global value chains do more than generate jobs–they bring valuable knowhow, catalyzing high-productivity industries like electronics and automotive manufacturing. Read more from 𝗔𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗻, former chief economic adviser to the Indian government and adviser to the government of Tamil Nadu, on how Tamil Nadu offers a model for industrialization across India. #EconomicGrowth #Manufacturing #JobCreation #TamilNadu

🚀 Want to drive growth? It’s time to scale up firms! Karthik Tadepalli’s insightful piece in Asterisk Magazine makes a powerful case: the path to prosperity in developing countries isn’t through band-aid solutions or abstract policy prescriptions—it’s through firms that grow. 🏭 Firms provide a focal point for concrete and measurable action to drive economic growth. Just look at the data: while a U.S. firm that survives 10 years typically triples in size, firms in countries like India see very little expansion, even after decades. This stagnation holds back broader growth. 📉 We need more large and high-growth firms in developing countries. They do more than create stable jobs, which are essential and in short supply—they export, adopt advanced technologies, and expand into new sectors, delivering widespread benefits to economies. 📈 At Growth Teams, we’re focused on removing the barriers that hold firms back. It’s why we’re dedicating a session to firms at next week’s #GrowthSummit. 🔑 https://lnkd.in/eTeyj_M6 #EconomicGrowth #Firms #GrowthSummit #JobCreation #StructuralTransformation
