👏 Congratulations to HAP's Nicole Stallings and all the hospital leaders included on the Central Penn Business Journal's 2024 Powerlist for Health Care! “HAP’s advocacy helped deliver critical state budget support this year to protect struggling rural hospitals and preserve access to maternal and infant care. I’m also personally proud of new ways we are strengthening relationships outside of the hospital community, such as partnering with other organizations to expand health care workforce data, engaging with businesses to advance shared priorities, and working with law enforcement and prosecutors to address violence against health professionals,” Stallings said. Congratulations to all of this year's honorees and especially our member hospital leaders: Deborah Addo (Penn State Health), Roxanna Gapstur (WellSpan Health), David Gibbons (UPMC), John J Herman (Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health), and Elizabeth Ritter (Getty)(UPMC). https://lnkd.in/e5SH3GT7

Protecting health care workers from rising violence and abuse takes a community approach. This week, HAP organized a roundtable event to bring together Western Pennsylvania hospitals, policymakers, law enforcement, and emergency management leaders to discuss challenges, pending legislation, and ideas for possible collaboration. Special thank you to Allegheny Health Network Grove City for hosting! “We believe that many of the potential strategies to address health care workplace violence lie within our ability to share best practices and collaborate across the broader community,” said Christopher Chamberlain, MS RN CHEP, HAP’s vice president, emergency management. “Hospitals are prioritizing investments and initiatives to keep their teams safe, and today’s discussion is designed to further establish and strengthen partnerships to prevent and respond to violence targeting health care workers.” Similar events are being planned throughout the commonwealth for 2025.
