Nonprofits are often the first line of defense for communities fighting for equity and justice. When these organizations are targeted, it’s not just their operations at risk—it’s the communities they serve and the causes they champion. Here’s what we believe: 1️⃣ Standing Together Matters: Collective action is our strongest shield. Partner with other organizations to advocate for policies that protect our sector. 2️⃣ Build Resilience: Be prepared with legal, communication, and crisis-response plans to navigate these challenges effectively. 3️⃣ Stay Focused on Equity: Attacks on #nonprofits are often an attempt to silence movements for justice. We must remain grounded in our mission. How is your organization navigating these challenges? Let’s use this moment to reflect, prepare, and double down on our commitment to social change. Nonprofits have always been a force for transformation—we can’t let fear or political pressure stop us now. 💪🏽 #NonprofitLeadership #Equity #SocialImpact #StandForChange #CommunityResilience #CivicEngagement #AdvocateForEquity #DEI #SocialJustice

🌟 We need your voice! 🌟 Have you ever experienced ableism, sexism, homophobia, classism, or other forms of oppression at work? Your story matters. In 2019, the American Psychological Association began seriously addressing racial trauma, known as race-based traumatic stress (RBTS). While significant progress has been made in understanding the emotional and psychological toll of racism, there is a notable gap in research on oppression-based traumatic stress (OBTS) caused by other forms of oppression, like ableism, sexism, and homophobia. 💡 We’re undertaking a research study to identify how OBTS affects individuals and what organizations can do to mitigate and address this issue. ✨ Your participation is critical! Responses are completely CONFIDENTIAL and will guide meaningful workplace change. 🚨 We’re so close! We only need 46 more responses to reach our goal of 150 participants. Will you help us get there? 🎉 Bonus: Complete the 15-minute survey and be entered into a raffle to win a $250 gift card! 📩 Click here to participate: https://lnkd.in/gyewZkNT #HealingEquityUnited #WorkplaceInclusion #DEIB #OppressionBasedTrauma #MentalHealth #SocialJustice #TakeAction #EquityInAction #DEI #nonprofit #leadership #psychology

Three years ago today, the January 6th insurrection shook the foundations of our democracy. It was a stark reminder of how white supremacy, misinformation, and a disregard for justice can erupt into violence. With Trump set to assume the presidency in just two weeks, the nonprofit sector faces an urgent question: How do we remain steadfast in our commitment to justice and equity in this volatile climate? Nonprofits often serve as lifelines for the most marginalized among us—BIPOC communities, immigrants, survivors of violence, and those bearing the brunt of systemic inequities. Yet, our sector isn’t immune to the same dynamics that fueled January 6th. White-dominant norms, lack of representation, and performative DEIB efforts hold us back from truly advancing justice. This moment demands more than words—it demands action. As we reflect on this anniversary, let’s commit to making our sector—and our society—better equipped to face the challenges ahead. #DEIB #NonprofitLeadership #January6th #EquityAndJustice

We Need Your Help! We’ve received about 90 responses so far to our Oppression-Based Traumatic Stress (OBTS) survey. While these responses have provided valuable insights, we know that increasing the response rate will help us paint a more complete picture of how OBTS impacts individuals and communities (including and beyond racial trauma). If you haven't yet, we’d deeply appreciate your participation—or if you could share this with your network. Every voice matters in helping us better understand and address OBTS. https://lnkd.in/gyewZkNT

Healing Equity United reposted this
“Here are 5 specific actions that Fund The People’s CEO Rusty Stahl recommends we all take, based on advice from the ACLU lawyer who is leading the ACLU’s effort to stop the bill: “(1) Urge Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer to NOT allow S. 4136 (the bill’s equivalent in the Senate) to come up for a vote in the Senate. Call him via the Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121, or submit a message through this page of his website “(2) No matter your party affiliation or your Senator’s party affiliation, call the offices of your state’s two U.S. senators, and urge them to oppose S 4136 this year, and in the new Congress next year. Call the Capitol switchboard at (202) 225-3121 to reach them. “(3) If you live or vote in Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington State, or Maine, contact the following senators. (Or if you KNOW people in these states, be sure to share this with them and urge them to contact these senators!)”
Actions you can take to stop “Nonprofit-Killer Bill,” (HR 9495), now that it’s passed through the House and is on its way to the Senate

This isn't business as usual—we need bold action to protect immigrant rights, civil liberties, and the people we serve. Join us for an intensive workshop, "Nonprofits in Transition: Preparing for the Trump Administration." Together, we’ll: ✅ Build concrete protection plans for our communities. ✅ Develop rapid response protocols for our organizations. ✅ Strengthen networks of collective resistance. As we reflect on the outcomes of the 2024 election, an unsettling narrative has emerged. Once again, communities of color find themselves targeted by a familiar voter blame game. This time, some have pointed fingers at Arab Americans and Latinos, casting them as the latest scapegoats for electoral outcomes. At Healing Equity United, we believe it’s critical to recognize this blame game for what it is: a divisive tactic rooted in white supremacy, designed to pit BlPOC communities against each other. When we place responsibility on specific communities for broader societal issues, we perpetuate a cycle of polarization and distract from the systemic barriers that continue to uphold inequity and exclusion. Rather than searching for someone to blame, we should turn our attention to the shared struggles and aligned aspirations of all marginalized communities. We need to focus on building coalitions, fostering solidarity, and understanding that our power comes from unity, not division. Let’s keep advocating for accountability, justice, and inclusion—not just in the voting booth but in every aspect of society. Together, we can work to dismantle the structures that seek to divide us. #DEI #DEIB #Election2024 #blamegame #Democrats #solidarity #community #racialjustice https://lnkd.in/eksCRemH

Urgent action items in Vu Le's article to protect nonprofits! 📣
“Shutting down nonprofits that protest against injustice by marking them as supporting terrorism is a violation of the First Amendment and a glimpse into the incoming administration’s fascist intentions. The bill was put to a vote last week and did not pass. But they are trying again. This Thursday morning, it will go to a full house vote, and just needs a simple majority to pass, unlike last week, when they needed a 2/3 majority. “WE MUST ALL TAKE ACTION! Here are some things you can do immediately.” H/t to Rusty Stahl for sounding the alarm
