The week before Christmas holidays marked an exciting chapter in the collaboration between Estonia and South Korea in #healthtechnology and #innovation. The visit began with the high-level conference, "Regulation-Free Special Zones Innovation Week 2024," featuring an opening remark by Deputy Minister for Startup and Venture Innovation Mr. Jungwook Lim and a congratulatory remark by Ambassador of Estonia to South Korea Mr. Sten Schwede. Estonian representatives, Prof. Mait Metspalu and Mrs. Silja Elunurm, actively contributed as expert speakers at this event, as well as at the International Joint Seminar "Advance Movement, Go Forward Together with AI." In addition to these high-profile engagements, the Estonian delegation visited the Gangwon Provincial Government Office and had the privilege of meeting Vice Governor Mr. Jung Kwang-yeol. Working meetings at Gangwon Technopark and Wonju Severance Christian Hospital provided an opportunity to delve deeper into practical cooperation models and future directions. Several potential areas of collaboration between Estonia and South Korea were highlighted and here we will continue dialogue and joint efforts for future collaboration: ✅ Utilization of #medical and #genomicdata for AI-based solution development – leveraging shared expertise to drive innovation in data-driven healthcare. ✅ Alignment of innovation with #regulatory frameworks – ensuring that technological advancements meet international standards and foster seamless adoption. ✅ Fostering international #partnerships for supporting healthtech innovations (incl DTx) solutions #validation processes and enhancing #marketaccess. Lastly we wish to thank organisers and supporters in the Gangwon State and Gangwon Techopark, Mrs Soonhee Bae in Seoul and Mr. Roomer Tarajev in Tartu, for their invaluable efforts in facilitating this collaboration.
