How could we potentially detect early stages of Heart Attacks? During a heart attack or its onset, the heart releases specific proteins and biomarkers, such as troponin. Traditionally, these are measured through blood draws as part of standard emergency protocols. The real-time change in biomarker levels can provide crucial information to determine if a person is experiencing a heart attack or not. RCE has developed a patented, non-invasive technology that may pre-empt an earlier assessment prior to blood draws by measuring these biomarkers through a wrist-worn device using infrared spectroscopy. Within just three minutes, our wearable device detects biomarker levels through the skin, providing immediate insights that may enable medical professionals to make rapid, informed decisions. In emergency situations, every second counts. By reducing the time required to confirm a heart attack, RCE’s solution may enable faster treatment decisions, potentially saving lives and significantly enhancing the patient experience. This leap in non-invasive technology aims to transform cardiac care in emergency departments, EMS settings, and beyond. RCE’s products are not currently FDA cleared. Every year, over 10 million people in the U.S. rush to emergency rooms with chest pain, fearing a heart attack. The reality? More than 80% aren’t actually having one. Yet, they still undergo lengthy standard procedures—EKGs and blood tests—to rule it out, often spending 3-4 hours in the hospital. At RCE, we’re changing that. Our non-invasive transdermal device can determine if a patient is having a heart attack in just 3 minutes—without the need for a blood draw. This test could even be done in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. This could not only save time and costs for the 80% of patients but also ensures urgency and critical resources are available for those suffering from a heart attack.
