A message from Dr. Khulud: My name is Dr. Khulud Ashraf, and I am a dentist in Gaza. I provide free dental care to children in desperate need who cannot afford treatment. I need your help on a case for Mohammed, a child in Gaza who is suffering from severe dental problems due to the lack of access to care and nutrition. He is in constant pain and needs immediate dental treatment and root canal therapy. I met Diab, Mohammed’s father when he shared that his son suffering constant pain, unable to sleep, and too ashamed to smile. Mohammed’s teeth are severely damaged due to malnutrition and lack of access to dental care. His father, struggling to provide the bare necessities for his family and cannot afford the treatment his son desperately needs. Mohammed's case is severe—extractions are not an option, as they would leave him without teeth. He needs urgent root canals, fillings, and medication to relieve his pain and restore his confidence. What Mohammed Needs: • 7 Root Canal Treatments ($100 per tooth) → $700 • Retreatment for an Upper Lateral Tooth → $200 • Dental Fillings → $200 • Medications (Antibiotics & Painkillers) → $30 • Transaction Fees & Exchange Costs (~20%) → $220 Total Needed: $1,350 In Gaza, banks are non-operational, forcing us to rely on money exchangers who charge high withdrawal fees. Despite this challenge, we are committed to ensuring Mohammed gets the treatment he needs. Do you know what I wish for? I wish to live in peace of mind even for a moment, and not think about anything. And to believe that everything will be okay. Not to be afraid of what might happen. And not to have painful thoughts come to my mind over and over again. But how can this wish be achieved in Gaza? Life has become so harsh. Everything in this life has a price. And comfort has a price. And it is natural that we work hard for comfort. But now in Gaza the possibility of comfort has been buried. Everything has been buried with it. How can we find comfort without an environment that supports survival? Where can we find comfort without shelter, electricity and water? We are trying to live a quarter of the life of any person in the world, a simple and modest life. Help us ease our difficult reality. Every dollar can ease and bring hope back to our lives.
