Addressing the unmet needs of Highland Park and Highwood IL - Give where you live!

About us

The Highland Park Community Foundation was established in 1992 at the request of the City of Highland Park to build and maintain a permanent endowment fund. The fund serves to support and expand the services of social service, cultural, educational and environmental agencies in Highland Park and Highwood. It is also used to nurture the early stages of new and innovative programs. The Foundation’s avowed purpose is to “meet the unmet needs” of the community – needs that are not met by governmental or other sources. By choosing an endowment fund as our primary financial vehicle, the Foundation can serve the community in perpetuity by providing a dependable source of income. It is the backbone of our grant giving. The Foundation has helped to make Highland Park/Highwood a dynamic community, acting as a catalyst to maximize community resources, initiating partnerships between public and private groups and providing financial support to local agencies. The result is a better quality of life for our residents and a more vital community. We encourage all community members to contribute generously to the Highland Park Community Foundation, a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) tax- exempt organization. By supporting the Foundation, you can help to ensure that our community continues to provide extraordinary social services, youth support and cultural programs today and for generations to come.

  • Highland Park Community Foundation - Grant Recipient Profile: Midwest Young Artists Conservatory Midwest Young Artists Conservatory (MYAC) is to build a home with the power of music to enrich the lives of our students and their communities. Through the Chamber Music Program, MYAC provide young musicians with opportunities for in-depth musical collaboration, which fosters critical skills like teamwork, discipline, and creativity. MYAC is deeply committed to the Highland Park-Highwood community because of the recognized need for accessible, high-quality arts education and youth engagement opportunities. MYAC identified a desire among local families for programs that nurture young talent, build lifelong skills, and bring the joy of music to the community. "MYAC is honored to receive a grant from the HPCF for our Chamber Music Program! It helps support our costs for Soirees and Concerts where our students are performing in Senior Centers, at Ravinia, and at MYAC. It is also equally appreciated that we can work with HPCF in providing services to our Highwood and Highland Park community. We consider it a sign of our value to the community and we use it as an example of our connection to the community." -- Dr. Allan Dennis, Founder and President

Giving comes in many forms. One of them is volunteerism. Recently, Mesirow, in partnership with the Highland Park Community Foundation and Gratitude Generation, hosted a volunteer day at their Highland Park office. Mesirow staff and family members rolled up their sleeves to wrap holiday gifts for children, create holiday decorations, cards, and make blankets for families in need. A big thank you to Mesirow for your philanthropic leadership and for mobilzing your employees to help strengthen the community.

  • Highland Park Community Foundation — Grant Recipient Profile: Housing Opportunity Development Corporation “HODC is proud to partner with the Highland Park Community Foundation to make decent, affordable housing a reality in Highland Park. By providing quality housing and access to support services we hope to improve the quality of life for our seniors and working families.” - Richard Koenig, PhD, FAICP, Executive Director HODC invests in places that people call home. HODC builds quality, affordable housing, creating opportunities for people to not only live, but also thrive. HODC currently owns and manages affordable housing rental units properties throughout the North Shore and Chicago's suburbs, including two properties in Highland Park. Tenants include low-income families with children and individuals. Some may be veterans, seniors, or those living with a disability. Housing costs are expensive which means that lower wage workers cannot afford to live near their jobs and have long commutes. Seniors on fixed incomes who want to downsize cannot afford to stay in communities where they raised their families. People with disabilities cannot afford to live near their support networks. Households with limited incomes need access to affordable housing but options are rare in the North Shore. #HPCFIL .#MakingAnImpact #givewhereyoulive
