Creating common & consistent infrastructure approach to FHIR & API implementation
About us
The FHIR at Scale Taskforce (FAST) identifies Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) scalability gaps, defines solutions to address current barriers, and identifies needed infrastructure for scalable FHIR solutions. FAST approached its work by first analyzing FHIR pilots, prototypes and functional use cases already underway to evaluate potential trouble spots. The team then considered and documented various approaches and solutions. These proposed solutions were then socialized through the FAST Technical Learning Community (TLC), conference presentations, collaborative SME Sessions and Connectathons. FAST work continues as the teams transform FAST solution concepts into actionable and implementable forms whether HL7 Implementations Guides, industry guidance or assets.

Strengthening Trust & Security in Healthcare Identity Management DirectTrust has opened a 60-day public comment period for its new Identity Provider (IdP) Accreditation Program, including the optional UDAP™ Identity Provider Accreditation. This program ensures that identity providers meet rigorous security and operational standards, fostering a trusted ecosystem for secure healthcare data exchange. Notably, the UDAP Identity Provider Accreditation incorporates key FAST Security and FAST Interoperable Digital Identity capabilities. By leveraging Tiered OAuth, Dynamic Registration, and JWT-based Authentication, this framework enhances scalable identity assurance, authentication, and authorization. The integration of FAST Security IG’s Tiered OAuth streamlines trust establishment, improving confidence in patient and provider identity across healthcare networks. 🔹 Why it matters? As cybersecurity threats evolve, establishing federated trust is critical. These accreditation programs eliminate the need for individual evaluations, ensuring compliance with industry standards like TEFCA, NIST SP 800-63B, and HIPAA/HITECH. 💡 Industry feedback is requested! Help shape the future of identity management in healthcare by submitting comments before April 15th. 📢 Join the conversation and review the criteria here: https://lnkd.in/gNnHSZ8j Julie Maas David Pyke Kathryn Ayers Wickenhauser, MBA, FACHDM, CHPC

HL7 FHIR at Scale Taskforce (FAST) reposted this
The recent ViVE event in Nashville was a dynamic gathering of healthcare leaders, innovators, and policymakers driving the future of health IT. A key highlight was the "Ask the Experts" session featuring Health Level Seven International CEO Dr. Charles Jaffe, MD, PhD and Chief Standards Development Officer Daniel Vreeman, who provided valuable insights into the evolution of healthcare interoperability. Additionally, Ryan H. and Janice Reese presented on the critical collaboration between HL7 FHIR at Scale Taskforce (FAST) Identity and the CARIN Alliance, emphasizing the role of identity verification in advancing secure, patient-centric data exchange. Another pivotal discussion took place during the State Interoperability session, where Eileen Troutman, John Ohanian, and Tina Grande explored how states are leveraging FHIR-based data exchange to improve public health infrastructure, patient access, and care coordination. Their conversation underscored the need for policy alignment, technology investment, and cross-sector collaboration to drive meaningful interoperability at the state level. The discussions throughout ViVE highlighted the growing momentum behind standardized, scalable healthcare data exchange to enhance patient outcomes and system efficiency nationwide.
